Why not just put on a raincoat? No use letting good charcoal go to waste. Unless of course you're using propane, then just stick it in a broiler.

LesaBenz and I both got stuck in a terrific storm yesterday between Wilson and Farmville. I think that you guys west might be getting the rest of that storm system.

i pulled over around 6pm on 264 West at the Tarboro/Farmville exit and sat for 10-15mins in that storm. i have never had to pull over during a storm because i couldn't drive in it. i'm pretty sure there was hail hitting my car along with the torrential downpour.

Kinda sorta.
My parents in Rockingham Co. got ~3.1" of Ian from this line in a little over 4 hours today. The majority fell over the course of 1 hour.

This video is shot from 3 miles away from the El Reno tornado in OK when it reaches its peak (2:04 and on in the vid). This tornado killed several storm chasers (The first time in history a tornado has directly killed chasers). It was an EF-5 and the widest on record reaching 2.6 miles at one point. A doppler on wheels measured a 296 mph wind 500ft off the surface (but not off Kaplan). The best footage in this video is from 1:05-1:23 and from 2:04 through the end.

From NWS Raleigh:
Quote :
"...AREAS OF SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THIS EVENING...

AHEAD OF A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM AND COLD FRONT...THE AIR
OVER CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA WILL BE HOT AND MOIST THIS AFTERNOON.
THE STRONG WEATHER SYSTEMS...PLUS THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY...WILL
MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR SEVERE WEATHER TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON INTO
THIS EVENING. THE MAIN SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL BE DAMAGING
WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH...BUT LARGE HAIL AND EVEN AN ISOLATED
TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT. STORMS SHOULD MOVE FAIRLY RAPIDLY
FROM WEST TO EAST AT AROUND 40 MPH.

THE BEST TIMING FOR ANY SEVERE WEATHER CURRENTLY APPEARS TO BE
BETWEEN 3 PM AND 5 PM IN THE WESTERN PIEDMONT...AND 5 PM TO 8 PM
ELSEWHERE IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA. WITH THE RECENT HEAVY RAINS...
SHALLOWLY ROOTED TREES IN PARTICULAR MAY COME DOWN MORE EASILY IN
STRONG WINDS...EVEN GUSTY WINDS AHEAD OF ANY THUNDERSTORMS. USE
THE TIME NOW TO SECURE ANY LOOSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS AND MAKE
PREPARATIONS FOR ANY SEVERE WEATHER THAT MAY OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON
INTO THE EVENING HOURS."

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0308.html
A rare Paritcularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Central and Eastern NC now up:

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
NUMEROUS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH LIKELY
SEVERAL VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
A FEW TORNADOES POSSIBLE

OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS EXPECT MULTICELL CLUSTERS/LINE SEGMENTS
AND SUPERCELLS TO SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE UNSTABLE WARM SECTOR WITH A
WIDE RANGE OF SEVERE WEATHER INCLUDING POTENTIALLY DAMAGING HAIL AND
PERHAPS EVEN A TORNADO OR TWO. AT THIS TIME...THE GREATEST HAZARD
APPEARS TO BE WIDESPREAD HIGH WINDS WITH THE CHANCE FOR DAMAGING
GUSTS IN EXCESS OF HURRICANE FORCE /65KT/. THE CORRIDOR OF GREATEST
SEVERE POTENTIAL WILL BE AROUND THE VA/NC BORDER AREA WITH A
DECREASING CHANCE FOR HIGHER-END SEVERE AND LOWER STORM COVERAGE
POSSIBLE WITH SOUTHWESTWARD EXTENT.
