people that only debate by name calling typically have a lesser intelligence.

I can understand if this type of rationale is difficult for you to follow; hence the name calling.

well, boobs, pretty much everything I have ready about leach is that he was a high target for lots of major openings.

so why would an AD, whos job it is to hire big time coaches, have a different opinion of some message board user with a gambling problem? mainly because its what they do and they have an understanding of "big time" that you don't.

lets take a look at this snippet from sporting news: (A+) Mike Leach, Washington State. There’s little doubt Leach can coach and run a program; look at his track record. The reason this is the best hire: It’s the best fit. Mike Price took Wazzu to two Rose Bowls; Leach can find his way to at least one.

Read more: http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2011-12-22/grading-college-coaching-hires-mike-leach-gus-malzahn-todd-graham#ixzz1hIWVZ9OW

sporting news said this was the best hire of all coaching searches.

so, sports writers, athletic directors and his peers all consider him a big time coach yet you dont, tww user.

1. lol @ the gambling problem...not sure how you came pulled that out of thin air
2. His record was good at TT, my response was based on that he is taking over a shit program and the previous bad press and that he's never won anything of significance. Of course for a program like WSU he's an A+. the fact that they can get a half decent coach with any decent experience is a win for them.

My comment was that he wasnt "Big-time" and my first comment was that we lost pettway to a crappy program like WSU.

I guess my mistake was thinking that TOB should be more respected esp by defensive players vs a coach that completely ignores one half of his team

Charlie Hegedus made the AJC's class AAAAA all-state team in Georgia, and Niles Clark got honorable mention at DB.

Mike Leach currently has a huge lawsuit filed against ESPN. That's why Debbie Yow, or any other AD with common sense, wouldn't touch the guy.

Fair or not, you risk getting blackballed by the hand that feeds if you do business with him. Just ask Bruce Feldman.

Fayettville Observer >> N&O

Quote :
"Pinecrest's Bryce Kennedy changes commitment to N.C. State
By Sammy Batten
Staff writer

A switch at his original college choice has prompted Pinecrest High School offensive lineman Bryce Kennedy to change his mind.

Kennedy said Tuesday afternoon that he's switched his oral commitment from North Carolina to N.C. State, in part because the Tar Heels have hired a new head coach.

"At first, I liked North Carolina and N.C. State equally because they both had great coaching staffs,'' Kennedy said. "But when Carolina hired a new coach, it looked like he would bring in a whole new staff. I already know who the coaches are at N.C. State. And because I've graduated from high school and I'm going to enroll early, I wouldn't have time to learn about the new coaches at North Carolina.

"So I made the decision today to join N.C. State.''

Kennedy had previously committed to UNC in October when Everett Withers was interim head coach and Sam Pittman was the offensive line coach.

But Withers is being replaced by Larry Fedora, who is coming from Southern Miss, and it isn't likely that Pittman will be retained on Fedora's staff.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Kennedy was rated No. 24 in The Fayetteville Observer's preseason list of the state's top 50 college prospects. He's a two-time All-Southeastern 4-A Conference pick and this year was named to the All-Cape Fear region squad. Kennedy was also a starter for the North Carolina team that won the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas earlier this month.

N.C. State runs a pro-style offense that Kennedy believes mixes better with his talents. The Tar Heels will be running a spread attack under Fedora.

"I think the way they play, their style of offense, is just a better fit for me,'' he said. "Plus (offensive line) Coach (Jim) Bridge has a history of putting players at my position in the NFL.''

Kennedy will enroll at N.C. State for the spring semester and will be able to participate in spring practice with the Wolfpack. He's the second player from the Cape Fear region to join N.C. State's recruiting Class of 2012. Jack Britt linebacker M.J. Salahuddin, who was Kennedy's teammate at the Shrine Bowl, chose the Wolfpack in June.

Staff writer Sammy Batten can be reached at battens@fayobserver.com or 486-3534."

Why does State do so poorly at in state recruiting?

This sucks. People from Raleigh going to Georgia? Bullshit.

Anyone know where we stand with Nick Dawson?

Why do all NC teams do poorly at in state recruiting? Because it's the ACC? Because some kids want to leave their home state for college? Why does State recruit Georgia so well?

BCS School per million people in state is low in GA. Very high in NC.

Lots of schools outside of GA get kids out of GA.

sorry to derail the recruiting talk, but I was just catching up on this thread and saw this:

Quote :
"Of course for a program like WSU he's (Mike Leach) an A+. the fact that they can get a half decent coach with any decent experience is a win for them(washington state)."

posted right after this from Sporting News

Back to recruiting talk - one reason the state of NC sucks is that like other people have said there are 5 FBS programs and one very legit FCS program in App State.

If you look at states like Colorado (i know I talk about it a lot but it's where I'm in grad school), there is only one real program in the state, and then a fair drop off when you look at the land grant university here (CSU). Any decent talent in the entire rocky mountain range will probably get a ton of exposure to Colorado, and CU does a good job of retaining in-state talent. Then take NC, a state with a much larger population, but the SEC big boys cherry pick the top talents, and the middle guys have a bunch of in-state options. It's one reason State fans should have some patience and understand that it will take a longer time to establish a strong program here.

You can criticize Amato for a ton of things... playcalling, clock management, staffing choices, player development, discipline, media relations...

but recruiting isn't really one of them. The man was a solid B+/A- recruiter.
