Todd Gurley will make his decision on Friday.
Quote : | "He is choosing between Clemson, NC State, Georgia and North Carolina. He still plans to visit UNC before making a decision.
As a junior, he rushed 139 times for 1,472 yards and 26 touchdowns. Also, he had 79 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble. He was an All-Area Offensive Player of the near. Won state title in 200 meter hurdles and ran a 4.30 40 time recently. His personal bests are 100 Meter Dash in 10.70, 110 Meter Hurdles in 14.13, 200 Meter Dash in 22.85, and 300 Meter Hurdles in 40.89. #10 rated player and 5 star recruit based on the 2012 AthleteVault NC/SC Rankings. ^^^lol...not dissing...just stating truth. Sure, it sounds like a UNC thing to say, but when it is stated multiple times on multiple websites that our staff has multiple guys AHEAD of him on their board, why would I come on here saying, "Aw shucks, we should have gotten him, he was great!"?
Truth is, our staff likes the longer, leaner guys that they can transform into a LB. Dawson has peaked physically and plays stiff. Not sure if he even had a commitable offer. I know he didn't from Clemson, yet he still listed them. He was a fall-back guy for us who happened to choose Louisville. His dad lives there, i'm happy for him. Good Luck. We will be fine.
btw, what makes you say he is better than 75% of our returners? Is it the 4*s? If so, good luck with that...half the guys on this board know more about football than the people that hand out those stars.

Ive heard that Gurley has been backing off a bit with Clemson, FWIW....however Clemson desperately needs a RB if Ellington goes to the draft w/ the uncertainty of Mike Bellamy growing up and being responsible.
Georgia landed Keith Marshall, so I'd be surprised if Gurley goes there.
UNC making a late push...
If i had to put money on it, i'd still say Gurley could be a Tiger, but i dont think it's out of the question that he stays home and plays for the wolfpack. 1/7/2012 4:25:10 PM |

Quote : | "The conversations have centered around each finalist. Gurley's coach shared what his athlete has said about each:
Clemson - "It's been a learning process for me, too. (Defensive ends) coach (Marion) Hobby and Clemson have done a tremendous job. I knew coach Hobby when he was at Duke. He knew Todd was going to be something special when he was younger and he was here recruiting Takoby. He said he was sick to his stomach when they had to stop recruiting Todd for a while there because they were only going to take one back.
"He called me and said I'm trying to tell these guys that Todd is the best running back in the country. He was pumped up when he got word they were going to go back in on Todd.
"Todd has always wanted to go to Clemson. He's always said Clemson is a neat place to him. He's always liked them. He was disappointed when they stopped recruiting him, but now it's a viable option. I always tell him there's a reason you go on these visits. To get a feel for the place.
"At first, Clemson was off the board but now they are back on. That has intrigued him and they are definitely in the mix."
Georgia - "That's a great football program. They have a great head coach, just like Clemson does. They play in the SEC against top competition. Whether he stays instate or goes out of state, I don't think that's a big deal for him. He has to look for the best fit and school for him. They've done a good job recruiting him. I told him don't let anyone going to a school influence where you go. Go to the school that fits you. I don't think Keith Marshall going there affects his decision. Playing in the SEC or the ACC, that's important to him and that's what it may come down to."
North Carolina State - "They've done a great job recruiting him. If I could pick a school for him I'd like to see him there. I have some close friends that are passionate NC State fans. Plus I've always liked the color red. It's an hour up the road. But this isn't about me at all. It's about where he wants to go to and where the best fit is for him since he's the one that has to do it."
North Carolina - "I think they went from first to third or fourth. I feel bad for their staff. Coach (Larry) Fedora wanted a good shot to recruit Todd. Early on I thought that was his favorite. Everything happened so late. He almost has his mind made up and he's not entertaining anything else. The Lord does everything for a reason." " |

everythign i've read & seen has him landing in Clemson, but i think State is in the mix too big time.
The thing at Clemson is that now that Andre Ellington is back, and Mike Bellamy isnt transferring, Clemson still has 2 explosive RBs and a bruiser in DJ Howard (Auburn transfer). He would be fighting for PT.
Same sort of scenario at Georgia, with them landing Keith Marshall.
At State, we have Mustafa & James Washington...which i think he would be an easier time getting more reps. I haven't seen the kid play, but running a 4.3 at that size is super impressive. 1/11/2012 8:40:11 AM |

Todd Gurley is committing to CLEMSON tomorrow.
Quote : | "My last school is the Clemson Tigers, a school I always wanted to play for after watching C.J. Spiller run there and break records. That was something I dreamed about and now that I have the opportunity to go there, it's just crazy to have my dreams come true. My Clemson visit was the best out of all the schools I visited because the time I had with the players was so much better then every other school, so that's a plus in my book. Even though they offered me late and stopped recruiting for a while, I didn't really care about that because that's just the business of it, so it didn't affect me too much. " |
