I also don't get why we would let the coaches go back with their heads held high. We never publically said that we even talked to Marshall as far as I know, so he could just be all "they never called me" like what Donovan did.

All Shaka said was he is staying at VCU, and that NC State had made some sort of contact. Nobody knows that he was "offered" before anybody else.

Come on, honestly. Saying we haven't "offered" anyone is just semantics. We're obviously going up to these coaches and saying "so... we've got a coaching vacancy, and we can pony up $2 million per year. Just out of curiosity, what's the first word that springs to your mind?"

Call it what it is, it's an offer. Especially if it's contact initiated BY US.

Anybody considered that we really don't have as much money to throw around as people though. Seemed like $$ was brought up as an issue a great deal early in the search, but after the Sean Miller/Rick Barnes.....Billy D. rumors everyone has made it seem like we are just going to make it rain 2million + on any coach we talk to. 2mil a year still puts any coach into the top 10-12 paid coaches in the country, and nobody is even 100% certain that Yow has that amount to throw around, its just assumed. I think we paid Lowe 1.1 or 1.2 with some incentives (that he never reached).

It just seems like the fact that we were willing to pay a ton is killing us in the media right now with every offer seeming like we are backing the brinks truck up and getting shot down.

yeah, I wouldn't expect us to move forward with a coach to the point of saying "no thanks" to other potential coaches without something signed

too high of a risk for the coach to get talked up on a contract extension and be all "lol j/k"
