Thats a strategy thats is taught in many poker books to get a read on your opponent, I seriously doubt that that falls into the same category as the other stuff you have said.

Yeah, I don't think I would classify that as angling.

made broadway twice my last tournament; once i had to chop it with another straight to the ace, then i went out with my second when he caught a flush on the river.

Moving chips around and reading your opponent is fine. But if you make any forward motion, any real casino or TD will rule that you've just made a bet. That would constitute only a call provided you didn't make a verbal declaration of a raise unless you are the first in the pot, in which case it constitutes a minimum bet.

I'm talking about people making forward progress with the chips.

ive been called on a bet before by picking up the number of chips for a bet. keep in mind this is specific to a limit game.

that was horseshit.

it had checked to me and i was going to bluff on 4th.

i picked the requisite 8 $5 chips off my stack and as i had them in my hand, maybe moving an inch, a $80 check raise came flying across the table.

i immediately said, "i check"

and tell the dealer to make the next action of bringing 5th.

It was determined that the motions constituted a bet, and the bet stood.

I made a big deal about it, got a warning from the floor and was told to go walk around for a while.

in reality, i think we were both borderline in actions.

but, i was still pretty pissed.

his dominance continued

i get there to watch him bubble out of a 100R at the trop

i cant get a game at the pink chip (7.50/15.00) plus the 5/10 looks too meh for him

we head to taj

i wait on the 15/30/30/45 2 way hi/lo game for a while, the 5/10 there isnt running, we go to borg

i run up +$400 in 30 minutes, get stagant for a while, drop down to $-400,

and karim keeps comming back over to tell me "im up another grip"

he jacked up borgata last night for the tune of another 4k or so

i made a hell of a comeback to end up +8 big bets, which was something.

i think the kid ended up ~7k in the grease.

in like 2 nights play.

not a fucking bad little tear

I thought the chips had to cross the line for it to count as a call/raise unless there was verbal communication.

aint no line in most east coast casinos.

the trop has like 2 tables with lines, they were thinking of implementing that on their tables, the borgata has none, nor does the taj iirc

Great site to bonus whore. http://www.pokerrewards.com

50% bonus up to $200, but its insanely easy to get. You must only clear 10x what your bonus is in raked hands. So if you put on $100, you'd get $50 in bonus and only have to play 500 raked hands at any level to get it. They clear just like on Party Poker.

^^ thanks for the heads-up.

but i checked out their promotion page:

Quote :
"For example, you depsoit $100, your bonus will be $50."

depsoit? poor bastards can't even afford a fucking spell-checking program.
is there a deadline for the bonus? and their graphics suck. and no option to display bet amounts. but i might consider putting $200 in.

i have another question for you guys who play on pokerstars.
how do you find out other players' tournament results? i was talking shit to some bitch after she sucked out, and she started talking about how i got lucky and made $xxxx.xx amount in a tourney.

Yeah, the graphics are terrible, but its part of the Prima network. I'm not sure about the deadlines, I haven't seen anything about it yet, but its been up for a few months like that apprently.

"why are the games changing?"

You are right. I do remember now that the forward motion is generally only enforced in limit games. (I enforce it all the time if I am in charge)

It's Robert's Rule 3-12
Quote :
"12. In limit poker, if you make a forward motion with chips and thus cause another player to act, you may be forced to complete your action.

Not professionally. I've considered it though. I have dealt a few tourneys before for charities.

I trained myself to deal craps and poker because I was going to take a job dealing for rich people's parties. But I ended up getting a grant to write a research paper and didn't end up needing cash.

I think every poker player should be given a Robert's Rules before they walk into a B&M

Here is what I have been able to come up with...

Black = Straight buy in tourneys with prize pool determined by # of entries

Pink = Guaranteed tourneys/satellites

Green = Winners Choice tourneys/satellites

Orangish Brown = $250k+ tourneys/satellites

Yellowish Tan = Aussie Millions tourneys/satellites

Purple = Anything related to HORSE

And any tourney where the "registering" and the number of players entered is "RED", it means a pro is entered into that tournament.

Its not so bad once you do it for a bit, but its a bitch to learn. The hardest part for me is dealing with last second bets. You haven't had a chance to place them in their proper spots, but you're expected to remember who tossed it in and what its on.

Ive never understood Craps, is it just all luck like Roulette, or is there any small amount of skill involved? I assume its all luck since its rolling dice, but every Vegas story I hear where someone won a shit ton of money, its almost always a craps story. Whats the deal?

It's luck, but you can use statistics to minimze your losses and keep variation low just like in any non poker game at the casino.

Nail on head

Craps can be taken down to a very low house edge (just like blackjack) and in fact, craps has a few bets that are true odds (although you have a pay a bit to gain access to them, which removes the true odds).

The point isn't that its skill, its that you can make it last for a lot longer by removing most of the edge and its an extremely fun game to play. Even someone like me, who sees odds and edges and doesn't believe in gambler's skill (in pure chance games), you'll find yourself very easily sucked into believing that someone is a hot roller, or that the die is lucky. I'm one of those jackasses that says "same dice! same dice!" when one rolls to the floor, even though I know it doesn't make a difference.

Anyone ever been on those Little River cruises out of Myrtle Beach? (well actually, Little River)

I wondered if they had poker. I know they have $5 pass line craps, which is why I'm interested, but I didn't know if the poker they said they had on board actually ever got a game going.
