Anybody got a suggestion for a place to rent lenses? Dad and I are going to both Airpower over Hampton Roads and Wings over Wayne next weekend and need another telephoto lens. Last year we shot with just dads D80 and his Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR lens, but now I have a D40 and we want to both shoot simultaneously. Any suggestions on places and lenses?

^^^^ "work"

but the way that this works is that no one else will touch the camera (not because of some weird power trip thing, but because no one WANTS to...they were RELIEVED for me to be "willing" to do it, which blew my mind)...it'll stay with me at home, and my boss already said i can take it with me to new zealand in september

it's like it's mine, except i don't have to pay for it

lensrentals.com and borrowlenses.com are both pretty good and offer a large variety of lenses and other equipment to try out. If you need something local, the guys at Southeastern Camera's are really nice and more than happy to help local people. I've had pro's rent from either websites with flawless results and on time shipping. I've only personally tried out SE camera's, which have a pretty decent rental prices.

^^^Those look pretty rad, but after a while, they'd start to hurt the neck, specially on larger and heavy glass. I got a pretty nice one for my 5d lately that's padded, stretchy and has clips to remove it easily.

that would be a pretty cool spot for a fashion shoot jbaz.

on an unrelated note: i'm stoked we're getting those new bins in cary. that little box doesn't hold shit. i throw away half the stuff i would normally recycle because there isn't room.

my dad just ends up putting his trash and recyclables in the neighbors bins because he doesn't want to put his own bins out. But honestly, my parents don't generate that much trash, they reuse a lot of stuff, recycle what they can, and compost the rest that can't go in the trash.

Plus my parents like to shop at the farmers market; they don't like buying all of those packaged goods. It's not that they are tree huggers, they like to save money all while reducing the burden of opening almost impossible plastic and cardboard boxes. I mean when you want something now, scissors or a box cutter is no where in sight.

A few shots from The Appleseed Cast show at Local 506 on Monday night. I was pretty drunk, and not working with anything but my 11-16mm and flash with omnibounce diffuser.

But mainly I was just drunk.

More attempts at neutralizing boredom while at work.

Apparently, the other night while I was drunk, I knocked my lens into something. It doesn't have any effect on focusing or clarity, but I'm still bummed.

^That thing is just a ramped up D40. The body is the exact same as mine, except that live-view button and the sound port. Other than that its a D40 with a bigger sensor and CMOS and a trick screen. I am going to skip that and go up to a D90 when I upgrade next.

Btw, just got my Epson 3800 printer today. Its awesome, can't wait to get this thing working.

I was sent to check out a brush fire in Johnston County yesterday. The Forest Ranger I talked to was really nice, and instead of making me stand several hundred yards away, gave me a fire jacket and let me walk into the brush with him. The fire was under control and I wasn't in any danger whatsoever, but it was rare for them to be so cooperative.
