I think the confusion is that the link you posted was of just the player where phil probably saw the "latest news" storie that the site has for him which say that UNC was making a late push

NCSU Junior Day photo from TheWolfpacker
Connor Mitch (maroon #3) is huge, but Lewis Neal (below him on one knee, blue Hunt jersey) is bigger.
Jalen McDaniel (Dark JackBritt jersey, #3) and Larenz Bryant (Vance #23) are there.

^ would be great.
McDaniel and Filleateau (#6 top row on the far left) would be great gets at WR. Neal is an absolute stud at DE. I imagine Mitch will be at least a 4*.
I haven't followed too much chatter with the '13 class, but it may be a little deeper than '12.
Btw, does anyone know how Junior Day works? It appears to be invite only or something along those lines.

Quote : | "Overview: One of the big questions about the Wolfpack's class is what to do with four-star athlete James Summers (Greensboro, N.C./Page). Summers has played quarterback for much of his high school career, but could be moved to wide receiver and immediately give Mike Glennon an explosive target in the passing game next season. While Summers' position is a matter of discussion, there's little doubt where four-star prospect Kenderius Whitehead (Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther King) will be. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end surprised quite a few with his commitment to the Wolfpack over Georgia.
Don't be surprised if: NC State sweats over Summers until national signing day. Summers has taken a visit to North Carolina, and the Tar Heels might be more willing to give him a shot at quarterback. If Summers hears what he likes in Chapel Hill, don't be surprised to see a flip. " |

Stupid fucking article. Summers would be a dumbfuck to go to the heels over State. At NCSU you are behind a QB who is entering his final year of eligibility which will have you in a prime position to take over the job next year. At UNC you are behind a rising junior who is likely going to start the rest of his career.
Fucking media hacks... 1/23/2012 7:23:06 PM |

TheWolfpacker has a nice podcast up where they discuss all this.
Matt Carter said he's spoken with Thornton and he's solid, told him on Sunday he was cancelling his Ole Miss official.
Summers apparently grew up an NCSU fan, like hardcore and Carter said it would be a mild surprise if he switched. I guess not completely surprised because while Summers is behind Renner and Williams (don't forget about him), they are the only two scholarship QB's on the roster (they do have that other miracle QB who shot up 70 position points when he signed with UNCCHEAT).
So apparently, there's really nothing to worry about with Summers, NCSU coaches have an in-home visit this weekend with him if there are any lingering doubts he has. Also, they mentioned how they feel like the visit was more out of courtesy than anything else and if there was any feeling that James was wavering it there would be substantative rumors on the IC and unc (rivals) msg board. 1/24/2012 5:52:39 PM |

I feel bad for Minnesota, but thankful that we found someone to come in and help fill the unexpected departure of Manning. I know I hate whenever a school poaches a player from us. I'm not ashamed when we do it, but I'm not completely comfortable with it either (unless it's a team I hate like UNC or UMD, eff them). I understand why he'd want to switch though. He's closer to his family, and he doesn't have to go to cold ass Minnesota. I do hope Minnesota can turn it around. They've obviously shown a commitment to their football program by building that brand new TCF Stadium. It's a gorgeous looking facility. 1/24/2012 7:18:59 PM |

I've seen Pete Thomas play a couple of times. On one hand, he seems like he was way too talented to be playing at Colorado State. On the other hand, his team lost to CU twice, and CU has been terrible over the last few years...

I wonder if the day will ever come when people stop believing that QBs are to get all the glory for a team's wins or all the blame for a team's losses.
