That's a much higher limit that I usually play, and it sounds like you guys were already into the 3rd stage (I think he thinks that I think) so I guess that play might pay off more up there than down here.

after the hand was over, i wasnt sure why he folded. when he called the four bet thought for sure i was hosed.

Tell me more about this guy's PR strategy. What is he likely to raise with and how does he see you at this point? Are you solid? Would he give up a weak Ace to you? Is he likely to look you up after the check-call?
I may just check-call the rest of the way here, thinking I probably have a good hand, but knowing I'm dead to any kind of a real hand here.

What happened? (What do you think of my suggested play in this situation as well? Remember, I don't know this guy much)

that would be pretty funny to see, actually. i've made a similar fold in a tourney, but only bc there were 6 left til the money and i didn't want to feel like i wasted 3 hrs for nothing. must have been an oscar performance to get him to fold on river. either that, or the dark bet. dark poker is so wicked.

Guys, I'm headed to Vegas Nov 14-20th... Looking to sit in on a tourny on a Wednesday or Thursday night probably. Only looking to put 50-80 bucks down. May go more.... But which casinos have good ones for the price?

Imperial Palace (where I'm staying for 3 nights, then Luxor the other 3) has one for like 45+15, and I know it's a lower price.... but what will the turn out be like? Would I be better off going to a bigger casino and paying a little more for a great potential payout or what?

And I would prefer a Hold Em tourny or an Omaha Tourny (even High Low)... pot limit or no limit is fine.

if he's opening in mid to late, hes raising. has shown down suited connectors, middling pairs, and broadway cards as pfr worthy.

He's seen me play tight and close to the vest, barring the one hand with the A8 from the previous story. I havent been out of line yet, and he knows that. He is unlikely to give up a weak ace i think.

i dont think that action will hold much bearing on the rest of his plan. the check-call of a PFR'r from the bb is pretty standard.

I dont really like this that much. by raising, we can see if he's still following through with his pfr, which is possible. by raising we also fold most kings that will beat us also (agaisnt this opp.), usually. He's not going to call down with QQ, JJ, TT, 99, 88, hes not going to call down with most kings. our raise shows that a bet is comming on the end. he doesnt want to see that, but knows its inevitable. he knows that i know that he'll fold anything without an ace, but not on the flop. waitiing for the turn is the situational play here due to looking like im wanting to get in more big bets witht his hand against something that he obviously likes. just check/calling down seems really weak and just bad.

haha, not up in a/c. kinda want to now though. crazy asians.... are they asian-americans or fobs with bad accents? koreans lack a certain enzyme, so they have a lower tolerance, despite the amount of alcohol that they drink. my korean friend never plays poker while sober. he has the perfect image, i think. unless he's super-drunk, in which case he doesn't give a fuck and donks off all his money. haha, i miss those cash games back home....

An LO8 situation that ive been doing some thinking about.

I saw a post on another forum about this, but it was pretty split and no one really offered anything of value (including an author of a 2+2 split pot poker book).

At first I didnt think the situation would come up often, but sure enough, the exact situation came up twice for me this past weekend, one in particular im specifically confused about.

15/30 (from a 1/2 kill from 10/20) lo8 at the borgata, ultra, ultra loose passive preflop game. (stnadard 6-8 per hand preflop, if late pos raise comes, we all come along, etc... a perfect capaletti rule game )

OTB with AcKcKsQh (meh.)

6 limpers including kill poster, we limp too, sb/bb both complete to $15.

9 ways for $135

flop comes Ks 4s 6d

how much value do you have here, what is your path forward, and how do you react to passive players in this situation

Top set might not be good for long in this situation. Too many cards will kill you hand, giving away the high and the low, which you dont have.

Especially in a passive game like this, I feel the need to call on the flop, but not to raise. Your hand is not going to be good unless two COMPLETE blanks hit, which is almost impossible on this flop. And since we know everyone is going to call your raise, they are all drawing to the cards that will kill you.

The same situation happened to me last night in a LO8 tourney. I flopped top set, bet. Guy got runner runner low str8 cards to scoop a huge pot from me.

You have to be careful in situations like these and most importantly know your opponents.

Someone just hit a straight. You almost ALWAYS have a person to call with 4 point cards in a 9 person game, especially with that many people to the flop. I would call 1 bet on the turn hoping the board pairs.

after having spent the weekend in ac with ben, i gotta say, what a baller... watched him raise in a 20/40 game with AA and the dealer exposing another A (i saw the guy before him muck an A also, but ben didn't know that). flop is 3 to a flush with ben having the nut flush draw, and of course he plays... catches the flush on the river and takes the pot...

what a badass... haha

gist:

get to ac at 7.

up $800 in 2 hours

back down to to up $200 by midnight

by 2:30, up $1250

decide to leave

go to parking lot, find both headlights burned out, cant get far with no headlights at 230 int he morning

cant get ahold of hish to crash at their place at the trop

decided my only option was to go back and play since i didnt want to sleep in the car with $5k in my pocket.

hit a horrid streak, all the way back to down $300 by 9 am. playing too tired, too bad, and basically life tilting for many other reasons that dont need to be menitoned here.

decide that the saturday $330 is my only way to get right, bubble out of the money at 21st when top 18 paid out of 160.

drive home averaging 95 miles/hour in order to get home before dark.

christ, what a shitty last 18 hours or so.


im going to go sit on the couch, drink beer and go to sleep.
