oh yea i understand

you were a swimmer right?

ditto

i can't wear capped sleeve shirts or boatneck shirts really either without looking like a huge dyke. no offense, obviously. but my shoulders look beastly. so i feel you. it could be weird.

Those shoes are great with business outfits, like button-down shirts with pencil skirts. It makes the ensemble look more contemporary. I like them, but only for business attire.

Still looking at dress options for the gf's wedding. Found some awesome dresses from Betsey Johnson and BCBG. I REALLY like the last dress, the green number from BCBG. But that much green could be overkill. And it may be too plain. I really love all of these though.

Also, I think it's funny that the girl in the vibrant pink dress is carrying a bright red clutch.

The gray one is only $65. The cute white one with the purple detail is about 5 times more expensive, but it's soooo cute and I love the way BCBG dresses fit me. I've never ordered from modcloth, and while there are reviews online, I definitely worry a little about how it will fit once I order.

Has anyone had to return items to modcloth? How's their return policy?

i have had fitting issues with modcloth.

i bought a skirt in medium. i couldn't pull it over my hips. i have to put it on over my head.

i didnt return it though b/c i really, really like it.
and it fits...just a little hassle to put it on.

^ Sweet! I'm going to see if they have it at the local BCBG so I can take pics in it. And maybe post the pics to teedub for feedback.

^^ I can deal with that. Most of my really cute dresses are a pain in the butt to put on ... strapless dresses in particular.

Now that I'm looking at some of the dresses, I may weed out the ones that would require me to wear spanx. I intend to have a hot date to this wedding and spanx would kill the mood. So this rules out satiny dresses.

^^^ Yeah, the whole spanx thing rules out the cute pink BCBG dress, as well as dresses 2-4, the Betsey Johnson numbers.

I'm going to try to find some of the BCBG dresses at the store tonight!

lucy - I really like this dress, but it looks really short. and I'd be iffy about wearing white to a wedding.

joie - I love that necklace! was it a "just beacuse" gift? those are the best.

Oh dear.
My sister finally has a boyfriend.

Mom emailed me:
Quote :
"Hey need to ask you a few questions.

I haven't had to worry about birth control since 96 or 97 so I don't pay a whole lot of attention to it.

[Sister] brought up this week going on the pill. She said she wants to because of the period cramps but I think it's for actual birth control. Dad bought condoms, put them in the closet, told her they were there and if she used them up to put the empty box on his chair and he would buy some more. she didn't say anything.

do you know how pricing at planned parenthood works? are there any other low income options available?

which pill is least likely to make a person gain weight?
"

The patch isn't an option, as are other weight-limited BCs: my sister is as obese as I am, if not more so.

I was in that boat in high school too (actually did have severe cramps, but also wanted BC). I got tri levlen, and it stopped the cramps. I don't know much about the weight gain part. I've been on several different kinds and never gained weight from any. I think the weight gain thing is generally way overdramatized. But as far as price goes, I imagine some of the generics would be covered under stores that offer $5 generics or whatever those deals are. And I don't think any of them are particularly better than the others. It's mostly trial and error to figure out which one is best for each woman.

Haha I went to my ob-gyn recently because I've been on the pill since I was 19 and wanted to discuss other options... I said something about which birth controls = weight gain and he said flat out "Women don't gain weight because of birth control; they gain weight because they eat too much". That was so funny to me because I have some friends that always blame any weight gain on the pill.

I am on Levora (Nordette is the expensive namebrand) and it is 10 bucks a month w/ insurance. Way less expensive than a baby.

OrthoTriCyclen = nono!!!!

i take karvia which is the generic of mircette. it is $10 a month.

just find a BC with a generic if you want a low cost option.

and i have also heard that weight gain on the pill is grossly exaggerated.

I love OrthoTriCyclen (do not get the generic, though). It helped clear up my acne in high school, and it helped the severe cramping I used to get.

i used to take orthotricyclen lo in HS. never took the generic of that

but now i take mircette (well karvia). rec to me because i have super painful periods.

i think that more than weight gain the big concern w/ the pill is mood changes.

i dunno though. the only generic i've ever taken is the one i'm on now.

then went to the patch then back to the generic ortho

then i went to the ring and i love it. so much better than taking a pill everyday! although its not really a big deal, i just like one less thing to do

Is there such a thing as cute shoes that are comfortable enough for 8-10 hours of standing?

I dunno if it's because I have high arches and don't get enough support there, but at the end of the day when I've been teaching, my back/legs/feet are all killing me. My mom has recommended some shoes to me, but they're all ugly and clunky things that I'd never wear with a skirt.
