Speculation: TOB+staff preferred a more mature QB with starting experience (thomas) to a young, unproven alternative with arguably more raw talent (summers)

EDIT: i do find it interesting that there were some people who were overly confident that summers wasn't going anywhere, that he was a lock for state, and the unc visit was just a "courtesy visit"

Summers is definitely an athlete. No where NEAR as polished of a QB as Stocker. Thats why we recruited him and told him we were recruiting him as an athlete with a shot at competing for a QB spot. Main reason why he left...UNC told him he would be the centerpiece of their offense (LOL, i hope so)

This is ridiculous. I never want UNC to get someone as talented as Summers, especially when he was coming here. There would still be a two year difference between Thomas and Summers and I'm sure they would love to have him. He's going to UNC because he thinks he'll be a better fit in that offense, can't fault him for that. But I can hope he loses every game of his college career.

There's been speculation that the kid wouldn't qualify and if he wants to play QB, it most likely wouldn't have happened here, especially with the transfer we just got. If UNC is a better fit for him, then so be it.

There is going to be almost the same number of QB's to compete against at UNC as there will be at State, the issue with State as far as QB's go is that the talent of what he would be competing against is better, and, the offense would be more difficult for him.

Even at UNC, he will most likely not play QB unless he lucks out with some injuries to those before him, but his chances are better there.

Ratings wise...Summers decommitting hurts our class. But in terms of needs, it's not a huge loss. Just would have been nice to have an athlete of his caliber on the team.
