If we're going non-human, there are honestly only 2 realistic candidates, neither of which would turn us down

We could either go true animal, and get our wolfdog to "coach" the team, ie, Harrow/Brown is the coach, Tuffy just sits near the bench on a leash and tries not to shit on the court

Or we could put a mystery coach in Mr. Wuf's outfit, and literally have our mascot be our head coach. He would definitely get things pumped up and would surely strike fear into opposing coaches who were unsure of his true identity. Also it would get us a lot of national press coverage, which would really help out with marketing our brand

It doesn't matter if we offered him or not IMO. If we contacted a coach, chances are there was at least a superficial level of interest. Receiving an actual offer, verbal or written, simply doesn't matter in the battle of national perception.

has anyone looked at the negatives of coaching here?

1. we play in a highly respected and difficult conference in which duke and unc for the last 20 years have dominated. in which our new coach will be recruiting and coaching against 2 basketball legends.
2. we were very good in the 70's and 80's and thus have a booster base that wants to win badly and is very vocal about it.
3. we hired an AD that unlike the last has a set of nuts and appears to not be interested in being mediocre.

Honestly I think there is so much pressure to win here that coaches are turned off by the situation. We are not in a position that most coaches are looking for. Lets me honest and admit it is not going to be easy to find some with the fortitude to want to take on this pressure. We will have to find someone who is willing to put his reputation and skill set on the line more so than coaching at VCU, Whiticha State, or any other Mid Major.

while i want to agree with that it didnt work for herb so why would it work now? i feel like this is really a difficult place to build a program because the pressure that is put on from day one. i do not think ANY mid major coach is ready for this position.
