I would say a false stereotype... When I worked at the shelter of course I saw some skittish pits, but there were tons of skittish dogs -- I wouldn't say there were more skittish pits though. I saw scared shepherds, labs, cocker spaniels (they were the WORST), min pins (also a bad one)... Honestly, most of the pits I saw were absolute sweethearts

You should adopt a shelter puppy. If they are bad with other dogs, or cats, or certain ages of people (i.e., kids) it will say it on the paperwork.
