How are cookies only available for 15 minutes? Are they taking the cookies back after that? Or do they just know that once the first group gets there, all the cookies will be gone in 15 minutes?

For our chili cook off we had a keg of Titan IPA and a keg of Odell's 90 shilling. Those I both agreed with.

IPA and chili is not a good combination, imo. Strong flavors that don't really mesh.

I do this. The entrance to our building has a set of inner and outer doors. By the time I've passed through one set, the others is now open to walk through. Also, I've usually got my arms full with bag, lunch, papers, coffee, etc..

Salesman sell equipment with install. Salesman gets equipment approved for fabrication by contacting purchaser (not maintenance who will oversee install). Engineer (me) is asked to review equipment and location AFTER construction on equipment is almost finished. Equipment does not match specs the customer wanted, nor will the equipment be able to be installed in location provided. Salesmen blames engineer, despite never consulting engineer on equipment/install.

Huge Equipment. Three machines valued at approximately $30,000 apiece.

Also, sorry for the wall of text for my prior post.

Yes!! Finally the case is building against this woman. When you decide to fabricate data, make sure you're steps ahead. But too dumb...very dumb.

client wanting to make a change to save $1-1.5 million in construction costs, that will cost at least $500k-$750k in scope change, plus escalation and a 1 yr delay in design/construction, bringing the actual savings down to <$1 million, on a half-billion dollar project. After the client had already approved the design for construction. And did I say they still demand a FY15 start, even though the change will push them into FY16? Oh yeh, and the town won't approve the changes and the design commission sure as hell won't let this change fly.

coworker comes into my office, out of breath and talking to me.

he sits down in my guest chair, a good 5-ft from me, and I can still smell and FEEL his breath hitting my face as he talks.

Coworker sends out presentation for us to review. I comment that his bar graphs HAVE NO LABELS, just numbers on the Y-axis, a giant pet peeve of mine. If you don't name the axis, some people won't know what the hell your chart is saying.

I suggest he add labels to his data. He replies telling me the charts are in image form, so its difficult to edit. Really? OK man, its one of your major coverage areas and you're presenting to the executive team.

Within 3 minutes of his presentation: Exec #2 says, "What is this measuring? Your chart has no values."

Thus, one person's laziness influences everyone's opinion of our team. Thanks.

Being asked to set up meetings ASAP for people who have no availability. Literally every block of time from Monday at 7AM to Friday at 6PM is taken for the next two weeks. Wtf?

"Can you give me some times I can schedule your interviews?"
"Just look at my calendar"
"It's booked. Solid. For 2 weeks."
"It's really inconvenient that I have to spell out when I'm free for you."

Co-workers want to hold an intervention for another co-worker over her drinking and refusal to deal with grief over her brothers' deaths. This woman has been clinically depressed for 10+ years, is basically agoraphobic, anxious in any all situations, and essentially lives her life through her television. In short, it will not work, but, of course, they want me to help because I'm closest to her.

I have my most annoying shift today. 1PM-8:30PM. And it never fails that someone walks in the door at 8:29 with some bullshit that keeps me there until at least 9:30.

if 5 of 6 people can see everyone's calendar, but the 6th person can only see their own, then person #6 shouldn't be the one to schedule a meeting that was requested by one of the 5.

and you need to actively try to stop that intervention, do you have an HR department or anyone that you can talk to about stopping it? (as a last resort if your coworkers don't listen to you)

I think the biggest problem is that she doesn't really want to get better. She wants to keep grieving even though it's been years.

and it's not your problem anymore...

^This

There's a long history of this with her. Outside of committing someone, I don't know what you can do for someone that has no desire to get better. She knows that she has a problem, knows what she should do (therapy, breakup with her boyfriend, get her life together emotionally and financially), but but she's not interested in "getting better."

Talking only does so much. I agree with the sentiment of intervention, but I question whether it will ultimately be successful or just exacerbate the issue. I'm all for helping folks and I consider myself to be a compassionate, kind person. This seems like something destined to fail, though

If you had my boss he would claim you have a communication error and cant seem to get across your points to the customer. Unless it was him who told you what to say then the customer is a huge asshole who cant understand english and is probably foreign or black.

Moral of the story is someone else always has things worse than you haha
