Well the first trilogy is the last three episodes of a six-part saga. The second trilogy is the first three episodes. If you go to http://www.imdb.com and look at the number of the episodes and their release dates, that'll tell you everything you need to know. 5/9/2005 12:50:59 PM |

I always kinda thought that the Dyas character was just Count Dooku before he became Darth Tyrannus. Kinda like how you have a regular name, but once you become evil you get a Darth name. 5/9/2005 12:57:28 PM |

Count Dooku was Count Dooku's name before he became Darth Tyrannusaurus-rex.
Dyas is in some comic book or other. He also makes an appearance in an EU book.
I think the comic implicated that Dooku did a blood transfusion on Grevious such that Grevious has Dyas' blood (the force). Lame. 5/9/2005 2:13:02 PM |

Interesting explanation. Definitely much simpler than I thought it would be. It makes me wonder, though, how Palpatine knew what Sifo-Dyas was up to. (Unless, of course, he simply got Dooku to spill the beans.) 5/9/2005 3:25:57 PM |
pablo_price All American 5628 Posts user info edit post |
I thought the movie made it pretty obvious that Sifo-Dyas died and Palpy/Dooku just used his name on the clone order form.
[Edited on May 9, 2005 at 3:58 PM. Reason : I guess if you want more intrigue involved, you can guess that Dooku or Maul killed the guy first] 5/9/2005 3:52:28 PM |

Spoiler*******************
From what i understand from EU story....Dyas used to be on the Jedi council...his contribution to the council was his ability to see into the future...he foresaw the need for a droid army, but the council did not agree with him. He placed the order without the council's knowledge. Dyas reveals his plans to Dooku, both are unhappy with the way the council is run. Dooku kills Dyas on orders from Sidious as a Sith "trial", Dooku erases knowledge of Kamin and hires on Jengo Fett to become the prototype for the clone under the name Darth Tyranus which was his new Sith name. Sidious of course uses his knowledge of the army to bring about the events of the prequels. 5/9/2005 4:05:37 PM |

One of the negative reviews on rottentomatoes was a dude that gave Star Wars I & II something like 0 and 1 star. Didn't review IV-VI. He also gave movies like Birth 4 stars
One raving review just added to rottentomatoes says III is the best movie to come out in the last 25 years. That's really something for the movie to live up to. I'm so excited. 5/9/2005 7:00:23 PM |

George Lucas has acknowledged that he expects to be on the receiving end of harsh criticism from parents following the May 19 release of Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith. "There's nothing I can do about it," Lucas told today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times. "That's the story." However, the newspaper observed, some critics are already faulting Lucas for making deals with toy companies that have already released products appealing primarily to the young children that Lucas recommends stay home with the baby sitter when the rest of the family sees the movie. Harold Schechter, a professor at Queens College in New York and author of Savage Pastimes, told the Times that the sale of such toys is a case of "Lucas wanting his cake and eating it too. He wants a movie that will appeal to the older teens, but he still wants this movie to be all things to all people with the retail presence." And Bruce Stein, a former president of both Mattel and Kenner toy companies, commented: "I don't think the mistake here is putting the movie out with a PG-13 rating, I think the mistake if any is in putting out a preschool line of toys." However, Brian Goldner of Hasbro, which produces a talking, breathing Darth Vader mask, told the Times, "Even if [kids] can't go to the movie, they can be part of it." " |

I think this sort of thing is inevitable with the SW films. Even if he hadn't made the toys, some dumbass would take his kids to the movie expecting the same level of violence as before. The toys just give them a reason to justify their surprise. 5/10/2005 4:13:36 PM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
Maybe he should just target adults for the toys then. Like light saber vibrators and Padme blow up dolls. In fact, he could just make an entire porn movie. Star Whores, featuring Princess Lay-Her, Jabba the Slut, and Choda.

Quick question about Star Wars in general:
How come it took Luke like 2 days to learn what takes most Jedi like 10 years? At the beginning of Empire Strikes Back, he was barely able to use to force to grab his lightsaber from the ice. At the end of it, after he has trained with Yoda for a few days and his friends get captured at Bespin, he has completed all the training necessary for him to be a Jedi (we later find out that after he defeats Vader, he will have the official rank of Jedi Knight). Perhaps Yoda is really that good of a teacher? Or maybe Luke was able to develop his abilities himself a bit? 5/14/2005 12:39:42 PM |
FroshKiller All American 51911 Posts user info edit post |
Luke was on Dagobah for an unspecified period of time in the movie, and he certainly wasn't a Jedi when he left. He wasn't a Jedi Knight until ROTJ.

The whole Jedi Academy is just their way of scamming money off all those families that hope their sons are Jedi material. They're spending thousands of Republic credit to send their sons off to the best Jedi Academy when the kid could be learning the same thing by spending a few days in a swamp. 5/14/2005 12:59:37 PM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
^^I know he wasn't a Jedi when he left. When he came back to Dagobah in Return of the Jedi, Yoda told him that he had no more training. While Luke was training with Yoda- Han, Leia, Chewy, and C-3PO were on Bespin. They couldn't have been there for more then a few months at the most. 5/14/2005 2:01:50 PM |
pablo_price All American 5628 Posts user info edit post |
Luke didn't get the whole Jedi history/philosophy/etc training. He got as much combat/endurance/practical use of the force training as Yoda could give him in that time. 5/14/2005 2:11:28 PM |
ShinAntonio Zinc Saucier 18947 Posts user info edit post |
His encounter with Darth Vader, including resisting the temptation of the Dark Side, played a big role in his "training". 5/14/2005 3:10:04 PM |
