why is Reitsma still our closer? Ray has been a hell of a lot better this year..We need to deal one of our 6 starters for a closer sometime soon IMO 5/28/2006 5:34:51 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
we don't need to lose any starters but we do need to deal some minor league talent (saltalamcalclcica) for bullpen help
reitsma sucks, but OV is 7-0 5/28/2006 8:04:51 PM |

Yeah OV is tied for 2nd in the NL in wins.. not a good sign for the starting pitching but yeah Pena looked pretty good today so i agree with trading (saltalamcalclcica) 5/28/2006 8:16:13 PM |

I think we should just kill Rietsma. He doesn't deserve to play. How do you squander a 4 run lead even if you do inhereit 2 runners? The just plain fucking sucks. 5/28/2006 11:21:26 PM |

Expensive ace May 26 - If the Braves fall out of contention in the NL East, Tim Hudson could become available, The New York Post reports. Hudson is due $33 million from 2007 to 2009 and $2 million more for the second half of this season.
I saw his name mentioned as someone NYY might possibly be after if we fall out of contention for the playoffs. 5/29/2006 7:58:16 PM |

Something else interesting... this is written about Dontrelle
Fishing for a deal? May 26 - The Marlins are telling teams that Dontrelle Willis isn't available, but that is likely a ploy to drive the price up, The New York Post reports.
If the Marlins shop Willis, his chances of landing with the Yankees are slim. They aren't going to part with Robinson Cano or Chien-Ming Wang, and one of them would have to head a package that includes top pitching prospect Philip Hughes and top hitting prospect Eric Duncan.
Contenders with deep farm systems have the best shot at acquiring Willis. The Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Braves, Rangers, Dodgers, Angels, Blue Jays and Mets are expected to be interested.
Willis, who has a $4.35 million contract this season, is the highest-paid player on a team with 13 rookies and a total payroll of $15 million -- but he wants to stay, the Palm Beach Post reports. "I'm happy here," said Willis. "That's no lie. ... This is the place that gave me my opportunity. No one else gave me an opportunity like this. This is a great group of guys."
...We could def. use a lefty in the rotation 5/29/2006 8:02:05 PM |

so lookin at the stats for the Richmond Braves...
There's a cat there, Stockman, has a 1.19 ERA and .75 WHIP in 22 innings Paronto was a closer for Richmond with a 1.02 ERA in 17 innings
Also, Saltamahcnaihidcna is in AA right now, batting .204 in 46 games. don't think he'll be gettin traded anywhere
and where the hell is devine? I can't find him on any rosters 5/29/2006 8:16:36 PM |

Saltlskajflksadjflkasfoais;fj is considered one of the best catching prospects so Im pretty sure if we made a big trade i.e. Dontrelle, he'll be one of the ones we'll let go.. We do have McCann who is only 21 and Pena who is 24.
I know im really late and must have missed something... but i just saw Davies was on the 60 day DL. What happened? 5/29/2006 8:21:51 PM |

^^ Thomson's stats are actually pretty good. Until yesterday, his home ERA was 0.71 but shot up to 2.60 something because 5 of the 7 runs he gave up were earned. Anytime he starts the Braves shit the bed at the plate. He has certainly been a better pitcher this year than Sosa or Davies. 5/30/2006 10:40:52 AM |

Saw this little blip on the Braves in an article on FoxSports today:
Quote : | "Triple-A right-hander Zach Miner, who was acquired from the Braves along with righty Roman Colon for Kyle Farnsworth last July 31, is 6-0 with a 2.82 ERA." |
I'm not questioning the trade because Farnsworth was big at the end of the regular season last year, but it sure would be nice to have a couple more lively arms in the minors. Farnsworth is a money whore anyway and one more Braves pitcher that the Yankess overpaid for (see Jaret Wright and Chris Hammond).5/30/2006 4:47:52 PM |

That new guy that pitched last night - Tyler Yates - shit the bed and then rolled around in it and then shit it again. God he sucked. Man the Braves have got some serious bullpen issues. I guess if they can stay in the race and the Tigers and White Sox push the Indians out of contention, then maybe they can trade for Big Bob Wickman. Otherwise I don't know who else reliable will be available. 5/31/2006 12:09:16 PM |

The Braves always have bullpen problems. That's why they are the Braves. When was the last year the Braves bullpen was good from top to bottom? 5/31/2006 7:45:26 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
no one in the history of baseball has had a bullpen that's good from top to bottom
unfortunately the braves' is bad from top to bottom
we've had some good performances, but no one is consistent and that's the frustrating thing
anyways
hudson and co. are up 2-0 on the dodgers in the top of the 2nd now

He has also given up 13 runs and 15 hits in his last 9 innings. Some runs have been un-earned, but he still has an ERA of 9.35 in his last 2 games. He has allowed 25 runs in his last 4 starts (16 earned). He has a much lower ERA due to him allowing so many runs that aren't earned (12 in 10 starts). At the beginning of the season, he was great. Now, he just sucks.6/1/2006 12:46:03 AM |

The Braves continue to lose games like last night which in the past were games we won. Instead of us throwing the ball over the 1B's head (gg Ramirez ), the opponents used to do shit like that and we'd win the 1 run game. Not this year though 6/2/2006 9:49:34 AM |
