looking forward to more tmv material as usual. i'll be interested to see what they consider accessible (though I feel deloused and bedlam were both very accessible albums)

I absolutely love all their stuff (+ATDI and omar's solo albums), but I can definitely see why other people don't get into them.

I am really digging the new Mastodon. Can't wait to see them in May. From what I read they are doing a big stage performance for the new album but Cats Cradle seems too small to do anything too elaborate.

i just came in here to post abt mastodon. this is my first real attempt listening to them, and I'm liking this a lot.

I feel like I've listened to their older shit half-assed and I hated it. Weird. I dunno. I'm gonna go check it all out.

^^ same here. i haven't heard the whole album, but i heard a number of tracks when they were doing a show on sirius a couple weeks ago. i think the different vocals are just hard for me to adjust to. maybe it will grow on me.

not my link, so i'm not sure if it's still working and/or what the quality is, but this one was just posted last week.

i hope it's good quality and/or working still, if not, let me know.

Speaking of, I wonder if School Kids could find me a reasonably priced copy of Midlake's trials of van occupanther on vinyl.

I've been meaning to go by there one day and ask.

White Rabbits -- It's Frightening
hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=HNFB0UFW

I first heard these guys when they opened for Spoon and The Walkmen -- I grabbed their last album, Fort Nightly after that and loved it.

I hope this one is just as good -- not my link, so I'm not 100% sure what the sound quality is like.

In case no one saw my thread on this matter...

http://elgruponuevo.com/

Omar Rodriguez Lopez
Zach Hill (Hella)
Jonathan Hischke (Hella)
Juan Alderete De La Pena
Cedric Bixler Zavala

I just found out about this. Years ago I contemplated how rad it would be if The Mars Volta did a split or something with Hella.
Holy. Shit.

new mewithoutYou song up:

http://www.myspace.com/mewithoutyou
http://www.purevolume.com/mewithoutyou

Definitely a different sound from them, by far the most mellow "single" they've ever put out but there's no doubt its mewithoutYou still. i definitely like it. I have to say again that their more aggressive side is the side I love the most (its a very unique style) so them taking the softer side for an entire album might end up slightly disappointing. But for now, I'm loving the new song.

I, too, will be there. Though I can't lie: I'm a bit more excited to see Kylesa. The new Mastodon vocals are a bit jarring (not in a bad way) -- I thought they'd picked up Scott Weiland the first time I heard the opening track.

yea im so glad that Jared did this, this group fits his voice SO much better than Classic Case. His voice was good with Classic Case but I was always lukewarm on them. I mean, I liked them and have all their albums (liked em best with Josh beloved) but Jared's voice really gets to shine with Telescreen. Sucks that it took losing Codeseven as a band to get Telescreen though.

I love the new Bird and Bee. I think it's fucking fantastic, even if stupid sites like Pitchfork pan the hell out of it because the band members have a little 'pedigree' in the music industry.

Their lyrics aren't that great, but the music/sonic qualities of the production is through the roof good. Reminds me of the Cardigans but with more flexibility. Look up 'Love letter to Japan' on youtube if you want to hear a great single of theirs from that record. It's poppy as shit but great.

yea I really like it. Perhaps not AS much as I was anticipating I would but its still in my top 3 so far. However, mewithoutYou, The Mars Volta, and Between the Buried and Me all have material waiting to be released this year (plus other releases I am looking forward to) so it will probably have some tough competition at the end of the year.
