When I heard that we were rushing the floor on the radio, i was like "wtf" at first. Then I remembered how fucking terrible we were and that WF was ranked. Let our fans have some rare fun.

I think the fans should stay in their seats and keep the volume to a minimum... unless your team is ranked #62 and they have an 8 point lead on the #1 ranked team, then you can start cheering. All cheering must cease once the lead is no longer 8 points. Oh, standing and cheering is also not allowed unless it is the second Tuesday of the month and the game is being broadcast on standard definition Raycom.

You guys should write a book on when it's ok to court rush.

Rushing the court against Wake forest shows me just where our basketball program is. Wake is a pretender, everyone knows it, they lost to the worst team in the league a week ago, and lost to the second worst team last night. The thing that makes informed fans laugh the most is the people that thump their chests about 83 and 74, talking about how we're still relevant, and then go right out and rush the floor against Wake Forest. Teams that are relevant with tradition and history do not rush the floor against Wake Forest, or any #8 team in the country. Claiming tradition and relevance and then rushing against Wake is by far and away the most inconsistent sports ideology. The most uninformed fan base about basketball and tradition, the Cameron crazies, think rushing the floor is moronic, especially, against Wake.

Unbelievable. The pack has been really struggling. Falling apart in the last minutes and losing. Almost did it again, yet managed to finally hold on. Wake is an in-state rival, and has been ranked 1st in the nation a couple times. And the Wolfpack played a good game and got a very much needed win. And Wolfpack 'fans' are debating whether or not the students should rush the court? Unbelievable.

^Typical brentroaders with nothing else to talk about.......who gives a shit wheather we rush the court or not. It was fun and we were just showing some support for our team. Other than the Carolina game 2 years ago that is the biggest game State has played in that arena!

If you don't rush last night, when do you rush?

Last year, there was a list of when it is acceptable to rush that was generally agreed with by most of us, and I'm pretty sure beating a top 10 rival unless you are a top 10 was just fine.

ESPN did the article on it, if I remember correctly.

That's just fine, as long as you don't flex about our history, then have at it. I detest the boo birds just as I do the court rushers, if not more. Neither type of fan help the program IMO. Picture yourself as a big time recruit, and you go see a game in Raleigh where we rush the court after beating Wake Forest, the #8 team in the country. Then go to Durham, where they expect to win, and are devastated when they don't. Would you want to play for the big brother who wins consistently, or the step child that has to make a huge scene out of a home win over Wake Forest because expectations were/are in the toilet. I know I'd never choose to play here with that mentality, but to each his own.

^ Let me know the last time students rushed the floor at UNC, Duke, Kansas, or UCLA. Notice anything these programs have in common?

I don't understand your mentalitiy. I'd like to play for a team that has passionate fans, and really appreciates a good win after we've been struggling for a while.

Bullet don't take TWW too seriously, it still exists mainly for people to vent and bitch

pretty much every passionate fan that has season tickets/etc is very happy we won last night

that said, unless it was a perfect win on a perfect season, TWW will find things to bitch about

there's something to be said for thinking 'we could have been a contender' but then there's the realism of realizing that we haven't been at that level in nearly 20 years

of course we all want to get back to where we should be, but since we're not there yet, I'm certainly not going to pretend that I am and am above rushing for a #7

So now rushing the court is ok for passionate fans that appreciate a good win after struggling? Wow, really low expectations and criteria for rushing the floor. If we ever won the ACC tournament or went to the final four it would be justified to burn the city to the ground. It's an act like you've been there before mentality, and beating Wake at home is actually quite frequent for NCSU. And neither of us is a huge recruit looking at it through a big time recruits point of view. But there's a reason the majority of the McD AA's go to the Duke's, UNC's, KU's, and UCLA's of the country.

Quote :

My point is that big time recruits don't want to play for programs like that, maybe you would, but the overwhelming majority of big recruits don't. I see a lot of court rushing in our future over the next 5 seasons and that let's me know that our program will still be on the outside looking in.

I know wolface, i really don't take it all that seriously. But jeez, i mean, people like this:

Quote :

If it's against a team that's been ranked #1 in the country a couple times already this season, and an in-state rival, then yes, it's completely fine.

Quote :
"But there's a reason the majority of the McD AA's go to the Duke's, UNC's, KU's, and UCLA's of the country."

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're winning programs. I doubt most recruits put any stock in the fact that they don't rush the court there. Sheesh.

But what do we, the current/recent student population of Wolfpackers have to go on? We haven't been there. My biggest basketball moment while I was there was getting to the sweet sixteen. Thats it. Period. This fanbase needs a reason to explode, and until we start becoming a top10 or even top 20 team, I will not bat an eye if the kids wanna rush the court. We have been mired in mediocrity for so long that we are eager for anything good.

NCSUMEB - I am sure the 1st thing you will look at when you see this post is the few posts I have had. Which is fine. That is because I have more important things to do then sit on a message board and basically "analyze" our court rushing timing. All I have to say to that is simply WOW. Get over yourself, please. Maybe you are just jealous you couldn't rush the court?

Its a big win not only for the fans but for the players...it makes them feel good like their hardwork is actually paying off possibly.

Its amazing that you just can't be happy for a win instead of complaining about court rushing. What is we lost...would that have made you feel better?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure UNC has rushed the floor at least twice in the roy era. I thought they did it for State when they beat us for the first time in a couple of years in 2004, and I'm pretty sure they rushed for a d00k win a few years back...first d00k win in a while. I could be wrong though...more likely to be wrong on the State rush.

It's been over 25 years since we won the big one. Our team has an identity crisis right now, where we have a huge fanbase, but we don't deliver. I don't blame the students for rushing. At the very least, it shows everyone that we want it and probably deserve it more than most fans. Being an NC State Basketball fan is no easy task, so we have some of the most loyal fans in the ACC. I say let them rush.

Alright name 2 wins bigger than the UNC game 2 years ago and the win last night in your time at NCSU, your time being the last 4 years. After thinking about it, it is definitely not the second biggest game at RBC center since it we have been playing there, but name a game in your time at NCSU that we have beat a top 10 team that has been ranked #1 in the country! I've been here 5 years and attend a lot of basketball game.

Well to be fair to Missouri they were 14 points down at halftime and made a monumental comeback to win that game. They tied it up, then took the lead only to have KU tie it back up. Then they went of and hit a shot that bounced of the rim, flew 4 feet above the rim and came back down straight through the net with 1.3 remaining. Also they hadn't beaten KU in five straight meetings. It was a culminating moment of Mizzou finally getting their program back on the right track after the Quin Snyder debacle.

In 2004 we beat Duke at the RBC Center when they were ranked No. 1 in the country. They would later make the Final Four that year, losing to eventual national champion UConn.

We've been playing at the RBC Center since 1999. This game against Wake was nowhere close to being one of the biggest games that we've played since moving there.

For the record I thought the court rushing was fine given the circumstances.

Maybe I should say recent history.....my college career! And yes I do remember the Duke game! But in the last 3 or 4 years give me a few games bigger than those two: Carolina game 2 years ago and Wake game last night! I don't think you will come up with many especially since those were in state rivals!

Yeah I understand. I guess I got confused about the whole part about beating a #1 ranked team, which we have done there. We've some pretty big games since moving to the RBC Center. Last year's Duke game comes to mind as one had we been able to pull it out. Duke and Carolina have come in there ranked pretty high. Was any of the Chris Paul led Wake teams ranked highly when they came to the RBC Center? It was definitely a big win. I think Wake will bounce back. Now we just need to take care of business like we should have been doing all along.

It's hard to imagine what could have been right now had we won the games against VT, UF, Marquette, and Davidson.

Really, does this not bother anyone else? Him acting like that after his poor performances in many a game before? If he and the team would consistently beat ranked, or even "good" teams, then we wouldn't feel the need for the novelty of rushing the court. These great wins are few and far between, and our fans deserve to rush the court and celebrate in a big way on the rare occasion that it happens. And he complains about getting hurt? Really?
