he never gives "undo [sic]" fucking praise? get out of here with that shit. talking up players is all vitale does because he doesnt talk about the game.
he has a list of talking points he comes up with before the game and just hammers them the whole fucking time. any game he calls, he will hype up the best player on each team, regardless of whether the player is good in an absolute sense.
a broken clock is right twice a day. It just so happens that vitale is talking up wall AND wall is good.

Wall did NOT have this jumper last year and in H.S. He must have taken 1500 jumpers a day this summer. Probably has a killer work ethic and you gotta give him props for that.
Cousins is a complete dick and a whiner. Glad we didn't get him even though he has very obvious talent. Too bad he doesn't give a shit for half of every game. 12/9/2009 11:34:49 PM |

Every game Vitale calls, he will hype a player, even if that player is bad. It just so happens that in this game, he is hyping a player who is actually good.

Great game. Bledsoe played awful, and UCONN needs some jump shooters.
Quote : | "Having attended games at the expanded/renovated Allen Fieldhouse, I wish we had done a similar solution at Reynolds (raise the roof and expand within the existing structure)." |
The same roof that's currently on Allen Fieldhouse is the same one that has been on there since it opened in 1955. You must be thinking of Oklahoma State's Gallagher-Iba Arena. That arena was very similar in design to Cameron Indoor Stadium (9,314) and Reynolds Coliseum (12,400), although it seated considerably less at 6,381. They built the expansion around the arena allowing them to still play games there, then once it was complete they tore down the old roof. They added suites on one side that actually overlook both the basketball arena and Boone Pickens Stadium (formerly Lewis Field). The expansion raised capacity to 13,611, and kept it as one of the loudest arenas in college basketball.

^^You're right. I got my expansions mixed up. Allen Fieldhouse essentially reconfigured seating to add another 1,100 seats or so, and this year did concessions/concourse improvements. The OK State idea would have been great for Reynolds. 12/10/2009 6:46:55 AM |

Completely agree there Mark... I wish they'd even let us move downstairs at halftime at the least. I'd be more than happy to vacate a lower bowl seat if the ticket holder showed up...
Quote : | "State is one of the few places to consistently have a full upper deck and a half-empty lower deck." |
I've been a season ticket holder this season and last season in the upper deck baseline. Last year there were clearly more season tickets sold in the upper deck. This year, you can tell that the majority of the tickets have been sold in the best section in each price bracket.. Majority of fans in the cheap baseline seats are located in 336, 330, 318 & 310. Majority of fans in the upper deck sideline are in 323, 324, 325, 305, 304, 303. The other sections are just empty. I hope this is a case of people not wanting to attend the cupcake OOC games, but we'll just have to wait and see (a good number of people got an ACC package last year too).
Anyway, even with a smaller crowd in the upper deck so far this year, it would still help
the fan experience crowd noise/support of the team and television visibility
if they let people move downstairs at an acceptable point during the games (hell, maybe just for OOC games). We could probably have a couple thousand more fans visible on TV anyway.

my friend and I were discussing possible solutions to this and he had a great idea but it would be up to the LTR and season holders to actually be responsible
ticket holders knowing they would not be in attendance for the game could forfeit their seats to someone in the upper deck by a simple phone call and the attendant could simply mark their seats as vacant for upper seats holders. i know its not that easy but a good place to start i think 12/10/2009 1:53:31 PM |

^ definitely a good idea, but would require STH to take action, and would require RBC staff to mark the seats. With season ticket packets, the WPC includes an envelope that you can mail back tickets you won't be using. Supposedly they are donated to children, or some sort of charity.
For any of the home RBC games this season, where over half of the lower level seats are empty, it would have been very easy just to make an announcement at half time for fans to go ahead and move down to the lower level (maybe a disclaimer to vacate any seats that are occupied).
Very little effort required by the staff that way imo.
If it works well, and the larger, closer & noisier crowd helps us win, maybe we could consider having people move down after 10 mins have expired in the 1st. 12/10/2009 2:57:22 PM |
