^4 Just working for a year I'm going to try applying to grad school again in the fall... the good thing is, the school I really want to go to said if I just tweak a few things about my application I'll basically be a shoo-in next year.. so let's hope that's what happens! ^2 Genetic counseling programs. I'm going to apply to Maryland (top choice), UNCG, and USC... I may go visit some other schools and apply to those too, but I'm def applying to those 3.

^2 Well, there are specific areas of genetic counseling. I really want to go into prenatal or cancer genetics... But while we help the patients cope somewhat, we don't actually give them counseling to help sort out their issues after they find out they have a genetic defect (whether it be with themselves or with their child, relative). I would basically serve as a mediator -- for example, if your wife had her first trimester serum screening and the doctor told her she had decreased levels of AFP, increased levels of inhibin, increased levels of hCG, and decreased levels of eu3 (ue3?), what would you think? Most people would be like "uhhhh.... wtf does that mean." Well, that's when you would go see a genetic counselor, and they would explain this increases your chances of your child having Down's syndrome. Then a GC would go through your options, like the different types of testing you would need, what they would tell you, what your probability would be with the outcome of the tests, etc. GC's basically put things into layman's terms for ya and analyze your test results. (Sorry that was such a long answer.)

But Huntington's does have a big chunk of genetic counselors.

^ I like it bc it's close to the beach but I think it gets pretty boring. I mean, you could probably always have something to do if you hunt and fish, but I don't fish anymore bc we don't have our boat and that used to be for deep sea fishing so it's not like I can just go out on the Neuse and do that, soooo.... yeah. It's ok. I do miss being 10 minutes away from the beach though.
