That's really sad... I mean that in a sympathetic way. At first I thought all of this was just the normal tdub attention whoring but after that statement you clearly have some identity issues. Why do you just assume Rachel is boring? Were you made fun of a lot when you were "being yourself"? Even if you were, you have to realize that there are some cruel people out there and others who will not appreciate everyone...

Not to mention, all this talk about your boyfriend and relationship issues brings up another thought -- you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else and have a healthy relationship. How can you expect him to love you when you're constantly playing dress up and living the life of a character? Would you expect the wives and husbands of professional actors to stay with them if they were constantly staying in their roles, pretending to be someone else?

Being a burlesque dancer and having a character for it is one thing, but completely abandoning your old self and getting lost in this new sense of self is another..

The regular Rachel is very much like Lila....but Lila is more glamourous. It's a reason to dress up and have fun for me and takes my mind off regular life like work, school, cleaning, etc. It's nice to have an alter-ego to switch to when I am on stage.

Like I said, there were always girls I would see that I wanted to be like. So I made Lila like those girls, glamourous, dancers, etc.

I must admit that I don't have much self esteem or really love myself, thanks to my weight and growing up issues, but I book so much burlesque stuff that it's easier to be Lila most of the time. To my family and friends, I am still the same old Rachel. At times being Lila is too stressful, so I take a break from it. I am trying to find a happy medium between the two.

The changing of the name is just because there are too many damn Rachels out there. I like the name Lila better, I chose it when I was 8 from a Sweet Valley High book.

The happy medium is that on stage you're the character, and off stage you're not.

If you're really devoting yourself to the character, it's mentally exhausting to be in character more often than not.

here's a wild thought, if you, your original personality (which already means that all this shit sounds like it's from a bad made for tv movie), and this is going to sound pretty harsh, was stronger/more dominant, then very few of your problems would probably be happening.

having a 'retreat' personality that you escape into to the extent that it's a sizable portion of your interaction with other people is kind of disturbing. some others take it as far as you have but they think they are actually wizards, or are 'stuck' in the 80's or even farther down the line actually have multiple personality disorder.

it's healthy to have some sort of escape/distraction, but you're letting it take over because it's "more glamorous" and that is horrifically sad.

you need to get back to yourself, and I only think a professional can help you. (cue the links to psychics voodoo dolls and mad doctors for lulz) aside from the comedy response I mean GO SEE A PSYCHIATRIST OR A PSYCHOLOGIST. seriously.
