Really digging BSS, but not as much as I thought I would have.

I need to give LCD Soundsystem another listen. I was kind of half listening the first time and it didn't really register with me.

The BSS is pretty good but not great. There really isn't anything bad on it but also nothing that really blew me away either.

I am loving that LCD Soundsystem record

Wasn't really impressed with either the LCD Soundsystem or the BSS on first listen. Nothing really stuck out.

I keep going back to that new Future Islands.

I need to know more about these fellows. Did they go to SE Raleigh High? I'm wondering if my old HS band teacher taught them. That'd be fucking rad.

William, the bass player, did.

He was in my band in high school, and to the best of my knowledge he didn't have any classes with Mr. Scott.

ahh. That's still pretty cool, though. Mr. Scott was my band teacher for 2 years in HS. Pretty awesome dude.

Have listened to the new LCD Soundystem > 10 times in the last two days. James Murphy couldn't make a bad record if he tried.

my favorite so far this year is dillinger escape plan's "option paralysis" but I know that won't be a favorite in this thread

Also, as much as Circa Survive's last two albums were over-hyped (I enjoyed Juturna but it still was a little over-hyped), the new album is a good step forward. I enjoy it.

^ you really don't need it. hell, you may be able to take my account over --- i don't even know wtf happened after i registered and didn't use it.

You can get the same links a day later, at most, from all the file hosting sites --- i created my own customized search on google and get about anything i want and for leaks, i just follow other boards (including this one) where there are a lot of what.cd members. In my experience, there is no tremendous advantage.

Today's playlist has been ---

new Harlem

new Josh Ritter

new Tallest Man On Earth

every one of those albums are solid, and I foresee all of them being in heavy rotation until The National and The New Pornographers leak.

Yeh, I bought the vinyl today, which also included a copy of the CD. I like it... not sure yet how much staying power it has for me. Animal Years is still my favorite. After three listens, I'm pretty sure I like this one better than Historical Conquests.

'The Curse' is freakin gorgeous, 'Orbital' is one of his hookiest, best sing-along tunes, and 'Folk Bloodbath' is wonderful.

With that said, I hear too much poppy Paul Simon in 'Lark' and 'Long Shadows'; and I hate to say it, but 'Another New World' sounds like a slowed-down version of Fastball's 'The Way'

I think the de facto album of the year thus far is probably "Teen Dream." People went a little nuts when it came out. Me, I really like the new LCD Soundsystem, and I liked the Yeasayer a lot. That Harlem record, too. "In Evening Air" is really good, I just wouldn't go as far as to say album of the year (for me). Plus, I'm about to listen to the new Hold Steady, which just leaked, and their shit is always really solid.

Josh Ritter is a great live performer if you ever get a chance to see him. His enthusiasm is totally infectious.

^i would have to agree with teen dream so far, with caribou's swim not too far behind, but it's so early in the year. there's a new wolf parade album coming this summer and spencer krug releases have a way of quickly moving into #1 spots for me.

As far as albums of the year, now that I'm thinking about it, the Titus Andronicus would be up there for me, too. Even though I didn't like it at first.

The new Built to Spill RSD single is really good. The B-Side is a cover of the Charlie Brown/Peanuts theme song.

^Like I said, only one person got it from Schoolkids. I think CD Alley got zero or one. The dude who bought it from us, I hadn't really seen in the store before. But, I think if you just download the leak, it'll be worth it to wait for the official product. The packaging on the RSD version looked kind of dinky to be honest.

Is it live or studio? I have a version of that on a Record Exchange Monitor This! comp. from 2001, and it's really cool.

Just played "Doe Deer" through headphones. Bad idea. Need to hear the album through regular speakers. It sounds good, but it's too much for headphones.
