Luckily for the Chargers the AFCW posted a fat 0-fer today, so they are still tied with the Raiders and Broncos, and only 1 game back from the Chefs.

man whoever made the decision to cut LT is looking pretty dumb right about now (Norv?)

i'll also put blame on the front office for not being able to reach a deal with V. Jackson, they could sure use him as well.

LT Sucked.

NY has the best OL in football, 3 first round picks. Mathews is a better RB than LT is right now.l

AJ Smith = Jets MVP this year?

LDT and Cromartie -- especially with Revis still banged up -- have been saviors for us... LDT had a nice "no comment" with a beaming smile after he was asked about the 5-1 vs 2-4 records.

(don't get too mad, the Chargers are my second favorite team, but I'm a lifelong Jets fan)

Because that worked out really well yesterday.

I know you will blame the o-line on yesterday's game, but Rivers is the slowest QB in the league and he was holding onto the ball way too long yesterday.

Not his best performance.

I would love it if Rivers somehow got traded. I want to see him win a Super Bowl pretty terribly bad and SD doesn't look like they'll be able to do it any time soon.

I would rather him be on teh chargers than say some other team like cowboys, jets, bucs, etc.

Chargers aren't letting Rivers go anytime soon. He is about the only good thing going for him, albeit he's had a few mediocre to poor games in recent memory; He's still one of the best QB's in the league, why would they give him up? (unless for a big trade, obviously)

^^ lol, what? You wouldn't want him to be on the Jets? Who have a top three receiving corps, probably the best OL and two very strong RBs to go along with their defense? If Rivers was the Jets QB right now, they'd be such ridiculously heavy favorites to win the SB it wouldn't even be funny.

Question for you guys... would you follow Rivers to another team? I only started supporting the Chargers as my second team because of him. I also really liked LDT (I know you guys hate him for some reason now) so it was an easy choice to follow them.

Besides Rex Ryan being a jackass, I don't support any teams with NY or NE in their name

Oh, ok... As long as it's blind hate I get it.

I thought you were trying to lump the Jets in with the Cowboys and Bucs in terms of talent, expectations and whatnot...

Depends on the team. I don't like certain teams...so I would just pull for him and not the team. But if he went to a neutral team (like San Diego was to me), then that team would probably be my new favorite.

And I like LT until he turned into a bitch the past couple years. He's fine when he's front-running...but give him a little adversity and he shows his true colors.

Rivers will continue to rot away in SD now that they have officially begun to suck. With his contract, there is little chance he'll ever get traded even though I would love to see him play for the Panthers or even the Falcons (some team closer to home). Fucking hate the SD management. Norv Turner should have been fired years ago, they fucking treat all players like shit (even Rivers when he came into the league), and they make some horrible decisions on what players to keep and what players to walk.

He would rot away even more in Carolina. He actually has a pretty good situation in San Diego...they just need to get their act together or get a new coach.

Really?? They ended up paying McNeil. They made the right decision in letting LT go (and did it in a respectable manner). They probably would have paid Jackson if he hadn't gotten another DUI. He was being selfish by trying to get Andre Johnson/Larry Fitzgerald money when he wasn't putting up their numbers and he kept getting into trouble.

And Merriman?? When was the last time that guy was significant? Although he'll probably go to another team, start roiding up again, and have a 10-sack year.

The Chargers need to fix some problems, but they have probably been one of the top 5 teams in the league the past 5 years and a lot of their impact players still have some good years left in them. Considering his options, Rivers is probably best served to stay in San Diego. He needs to step up his play with the game on the line as well. He's not without blame during this current skid.

He is like Wade Phillips. Nice guy. Good coordinator. Proven loser of a head coach. That was proven before the SD job.

^ The Chargers win because they have too much talent to not win the awful, awful AFC West. Norv is merely a product of that. He in no way has coached that team well.

Brady is the slowest QB in the league.

^,^^,^^^ Norv is a good offensive playcaller but I think he's not very good at making adjustments on the fly. He sticks with his master plan no matter what.

He continues to call deep routes and 5 step drops even when the O-line is getting destroyed and receivers downfield are covered. The flats were pretty open all game yesterday, and screens to mathews would have reliably picked up 15 yards almost every play.

Although Rivers is second. No way he's faster than Brady (who is still slow...but not THAT slow).

The situation reminds me of Elways early years with Wade Philips. Philips was such a horrible coach (and he still is), and Elway couldnt win a Super Bowl until he got a good coach. He got close to winning one a couple of times, despite Philips being a complete dumbass. Very similar to what is going on with Rivers right now.

Well yeah leftwich is the slowest, but I meant of the starters.

Brady had a 40 yard dash of 5.23. Rivers was pretty slow also at 5.08 but not that bad.

I think the only reason Norv has a job is the philip rivers effect. Just look what happened to Chuck Amato when #17 graduated. Without philip there to make the wins, everyone realized what a shitty coach Amato was. PRiv makes Norv look somewhat decent since he can open up the offense as a leader and effective passer. If PRiv got injured or traded, Norv would quickly be fired too

LOL, I wonder what the conversation was about during the trip to Qualcomm.

"Well documented" has been over-used. There has been like one story on him driving a mini-van. People act like it's common knowledge or something.

I bet he's got some other nice cars. He's probably not MTV-cribbin' it in the garage, but he's got to have a nice truck or something.

QFT. He is decent but has had more than enough chances to win games late this year (against really really bad teams). The rams and the raiders? Are you serious? I feel he has taken a step back this year. Throw up some stats and say im an idiot but ive suffered through 2..3..4? of the 4th quarter failing drives to know something is borked. Playing catch with gates all afternoon is not winning games obviously. V jax may help?

The rams??????

It goes back to the QB getting way more credit for wins than he deserves, and way more blame for losses.

He has definitely been less than perfect, but so has his supporting cast.

^^Seconded

In addition to VJ and Naanee being out, Gates and Floyd got hurt last week. Rivers was throwing to Crayton, Buster Davis and... Randy McMichael? And you wonder why he held onto the ball too long a couple times? Take away any QBs top 4 receivers, and they will struggle. That said, Rivers drove them down the field for a TD late, and never got the chance to win it because the D failed.

Rivers is playing well, but his protection has been terrible. Clary has gotta go.

I don't believe in putting all the blame on just the qb, but for the struggling teams it just seems that its an easy answer that they are the reason to get blamed
