Yeah damn if you want to rectify the problem of a bad coach who is full of pride and heart and love of NC State but doesn't have the necessary experience, the WORST thing to do is hire Jules.
God i'd hate to see what some of you jackals would say about him when we sucked. 1/25/2011 9:16:55 PM |

Leslie has decided the last few games he wants to be a 3 point shooter instead of getting rebounds like he was doing a few games ago. Bad Idea C.J. 1/25/2011 9:19:00 PM |

Why can't Leslie understand the idea of defending his man at the 3 point line. I don't know how many times the last two games he has gone towards the basket only to realize his man is wide open for a 3. 1/25/2011 9:24:08 PM |

We're up like 19, random clemson bench player beats CJW and dunks. crowd comes alive. we fuck up on offense, they hit a bail out three. we mentally check out. 1/25/2011 9:45:28 PM |

Basically this. We stopped putting in any effort after they started their rally in the 1st half.
That, and CJL stayed in the game way too long, still trying to shoot the 3 when we were up, but in a drought.
No rebounding.

this.
"not putting in any effort" is overused a lot after losses. and people just throw out terms like hustle, passion, mental toughness to explain away bad play, when there were actually other factors at play.
but this game "not putting in any effort" really nails it. it was PATHETIC. i was particularly impressed by how early our team gave up. teeeerrrrrrrible cuts in our offensive sets. you can't call them cuts. rarely you can. tonight they were especially bad. defense was a joke. with defense though, its more of a systemic problem with this team though. a lot of poor defense is definitely due to lack of effort ( as was the case tonight), but our players are CONSTANTLY out of position, go for every pump fake, etc. which tells me he just doesn't know how to teach it.

This was the worst excuse for basketball I've ever seen. I'm glad I was in college for the Herb years because this is just horrible. I'd put Leslie on the pine till he actually learned how to play. I don't know if Sid can teach, or knows how to teach, young players how to play.....let alone sub in the right times. This team feels like 2 years ago. 1/25/2011 10:24:32 PM |

I totally disagree with the "effort" comments all of you dumbshits are making with two exceptions. We gave up in the last few minutes of the game...yes. And CJL gave absolutely no effort at all and was responsible for two separate runs for Clemson that basically fucked us over...one in each half. If CJ didn't play tonight, IMO we win that game going away. Other than that, the rest of our guys played hard as hell. 1/25/2011 10:31:00 PM |

I'm sorry, maybe we should clarify...some of the players hustled for some of the game. Most of the players didn't hustle for most of the game.
How can you seriously argue that? Sid was complaining about it in post-game, too. Our guys bitch and moan to the refs after they look for calls, and we get beat on transition defense over and over. We got completely out-rebounded due to lack of energy.
Ryan and Scott did their usual thing, and that was about it. Meanwhile, I seems CJL and Tracy have hit all time lows for laziness. 1/25/2011 10:46:10 PM |
wolfAApack All American 9980 Posts user info edit post |
Idk man I wouldn't go with most. Javi obviously sucks, but for the most part I thought we played really aggressive defense and you need 5 guys playing that way to be effective...which we actually were for the most part.
Harrow, Wood, Williams, Brown, are all out there busting their balls, and for the most part Tracy and Howell are doing it too. I don't mind Tracy and Howell bitching about the calls, they get some bullshit called after getting hacked way too often. They have been loafing after bad no-calls a little bit, but god damn there were some bad ones. The only guy who consistently didn't give effort was CJL and it single handedly led clemson to two huge runs, one in the first and one in the 2nd which cut it from 8 to -1 with his piss poor shot selection and lazy defense.
just sayin.
and you can't really get on Howell for not hustling...I thought he did fine tonight but he fucking can't jump and got stuffed 5 times. Not gonna get as pissed at that as CJ jacking up 3's in transition when we need to slow down the pace and calm the fuck down.

harrow, wood, and williams hustled.
rarely did anyone else.
i used to almost excuse our players letting the refs get to them and not hustling back on defense. i used to say if their own coach won't stick up for them, then they'll feel the need to. now they need to get used to it, understand it's going to happen, and stop being pussbags.
meanwhile, sidney actually needs to go off on some of these refs. i think he's actually been improving at this a little bit lately. but come on...even herb got ejected one time...lol

Hard not to when he whistles at them every time down the court.
Hell, Javi is a senior and he whistles at him nonstop. You'd think by now he wouldn't feel he needs to play point guard from the bench.
I know it's salt in the wound, but even the most staunch Lowe supporter must have a hard time defending him after this game. I really really would like to know why the hell Lowe felt it was necessary to leave CJ Leslie in late in the game when he kept taking terrible shots and turning it over every time down the court for about a 4:00 span?1/25/2011 11:19:24 PM |

I've supported the hell out of Sidney up until this year. Before this game I was at the point where I wanted him to step down at the end of the year. Now I don't want him to coach the game on Saturday against UNC. We are a program with great facilities, a rabid fan base and up until 20 years ago - a program with some of the best tradition in the country. We just haven't had a good coach in that time span either.
It kills me to watch one hell of a former player and awesome representative of this university fail so badly, but Sidney will never turn this around. Same problems that plagued the team the last 4 years are hurting it now. Any coach at a mid major level that can win should jump at the chance to come to Raleigh with the type of talent Sidney will be leaving behind. Go AD Yow, go - I hope you've got some good names on your short list.

I think we can all agree (whether we like it or not) that Lowe is gone at the end of the season. Pretty sure short of an ACC Tournament championship, this was the nail in the coffin. If he hasn't lost the team yet, he did tonight. I think it's only going to get uglier from here on out.
Keep in mind Sidney is an well-liked alum, a great person, an NC State legend, and a human being. Keep it civil, it's about 99% certainty the Sidney Lowe era is over...no need to bash the man personally
