you're a Billy Packer fan? i feel like you've posted that pic in multiple threads
btw, Billy Packer is a cunt. i worked at Harris Teeter at Ballantyne in HS, and he was a frequent customer. he was also a frequent piece of shit. he talked to me like i was incapable of putting his groceries into a god damn paper bag. and yes he used paper not plastic. 5/15/2011 10:11:23 PM |

whenever i post that Billy Packer pic, its implied that underneath it is his famous quote "it's over" that he called in the UNC/Kansas game in the first half in 08(?)

i hear ya. i attented a Billy Packer "basketball skills instruction seminar" or something or other at my church in HS. he was yelling at 4th graders for not being able to get a shot high enough to hit the rim. he yelled like your dad would yell at you for backhanding your mother. not the best persona to host a "camp" for churchgoing peoples. 5/15/2011 10:27:47 PM |

Definitely surprised the Heat lost like that. Can't believe they went away from Bosh in the third quarter; Spoelstra is a bit of a retard sometimes. Bulls shot lights out from 3, and played ridiculously good defense.
Also at the end of the game - Miami's reserves vs Chicago's reserves was stark...it's like a YMCA rec league team vs a mediocre NBA starting five.
Miami needs HUGE games from at least 2 of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh to compete. Otherwise they don't belong on the same floor.
Edit: also didn't have the volume up - why was Magloire in during the fourth instead of Anthony?

Asik is probably the best bench shotblocker in the league now that Ibaka is starting and Chris Anderson is aging. 5/15/2011 10:49:23 PM |

Miller has been garbage all year, he doesn't need to be playing.
People still talking about Westbrook taking too many shots?? Triple double with 14 assists. I think the Thunder are going to give the Mavs all they can handle. Westbrook is going to kill their point guards.
I also think the Heat take game 2 in Chicago and take home court advantage. You had to see that let-down coming after the Celtics series. I don't think game 1 means a lot except for the fact that Chicago is ready to play.5/16/2011 7:11:37 AM |

Didn't answer my question...
I don't hate Miami, but I think the Bulls showed last night that they are a much better all-around team. I just don't see the rationale behind apologetic arguments like "I don't think game 1 means a lot". Bosh had an absolutely stellar night and the Heat still lost by 21 points.
Meanwhile, Omar Asik had 11 minutes and Taj Gibson played 23... the Bulls didn't even have to fire on all cylinders and were cruising past the Heat, who they have now beat 4 times this season.
The Bulls didn't scrape a win out last night like they did many times against Indiana and Atlanta. It was (or should have been conceived as) a convincing win. It means something.

Lol miller has been far from garbage this year. He played well last night they need his rebounding and shooting badly out there so I hope spoelstra continues to screw that up.
Tree, I hope you're kidding. I'm not black.
Taj Gibson unreal game, Miami is so overhyped just bc they beat an Avg Celts team with their best player hurt doesn't mean they'll beat Chicago. Get real guys there's a reason Miami was huge favorites its bc you guys know nothing about basketball.
Explain how a team can win the series when they get destroyed on the glass every game Better yet name the last champion that wasn't a top notch rebounding team. 5/16/2011 10:28:13 AM |

And Wade and Lebron had horrible nights. Miami can't beat Charlotte when those two have bad games. And I doubt they both play bad again. Boston shut both of them down for most of the regular season and look what they did last series.
You just can't take a blowout in the NBA playoffs and dismiss the team that got beaten. The Thunder got worked in game 6 and came back and dominated game 7. And when you have a team like Miami that relies so heavily on two players and BOTH of those players have horrible games...it's just an outlier.
And Taj Gibson has been playing well for most of the playoffs. His 23 minutes isn't a big deal. Good job on pointing out both teams having their scrubs in the 4th quarter. You deserve a cookie.5/16/2011 10:28:44 AM |

I'm not dismissing anything. As a matter of fact, you're the one who just wants to look past Game 1 like it didn't fucking happen.
The only "scrub" that played in the 4th quarter for the Bulls was Watson. I don't even really remember the Bulls or the Heat going deep into the bench, even very late in the 4th quarter. Maybe we watched a different game. Must be hard to focus when you're wearing Miami Heat blinders. 5/16/2011 10:35:41 AM |

Lol...
Miller shooting 36% from three this year and 40% overall (40 and 46 career)...and he's missed the big, wide open shots when needed (think 3rd game at Boston during reg season).
And he's shooting fucking 12 and 18% for the playoffs. Abysmal. He'd get more minutes if he could hit a shot.5/16/2011 11:09:46 AM |

50% from 2's and 36% from 3's while battling a thumb injury is actually pretty solid. Don't forget he crushed rebs this year to the tune of 10.6 reb / 48 mins which is absurd for a shooting guard.
But I guess the heat don't need rebounds to win right?

^ Not when he can't make any shots. The Heat already have enough non-threats on the offensive end. Until he can knock down and open three, you give more minutes to Jones instead of Miller. 5/16/2011 12:35:43 PM |

I agree that the Celtics were a shell of themselves in the Miami series; however, Miami had pretty convincing wins in games 1 and 2 against a healthy Rondo.
Bosh "had an outstanding night" yet could have gone for 40+ if they hadn't reverted to that isolation bullshit in the 3rd quarter. Chicago's defense dictates that to a degree but you have two great passers in Wade and Lebron who should be facilitating the offense. It's clear that neither one will be able to attack as they did against the Celtics, unless their outside shot is falling. 93 games into this experiment, and they still haven't figured out that the Wade-Lebron screen and roll is by far their highest percentage play. 5/16/2011 10:23:24 PM |
The E Man Suspended 15268 Posts user info edit post |
I bet they put that screen and roll in over the summer. The problem is the bench. They still won't have a bench unless they start last year's heat and make lebron, illgauskas, and three scrub shooters the bench. That seems like the most effective option. Then put bosh at 5 lebron at 4 and wade at 2 down the stretch letting fresh lebron close it out. 5/16/2011 10:52:07 PM |

what?
Lebron would be the best bench player and closer in the history of the nba though if you did that.
Also you would have AT LEAST 30-50 bench points every night. I don't see how that could fail. Plus your starting lineup would be good enough to make the playoffs even without lebron. Right now the heat can only really come after you in spurts. They can't play a full game with high intensity. This is why they were only able to run away from the sixers in one game. The bulls will continue to dominate the bench in this series. 5/16/2011 11:17:42 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148441 Posts user info edit post |
you must have missed my point, as Lebron isnt even the best closer on his team

The E Man Suspended 15268 Posts user info edit post |
Anyone that knows basketball knows you get less returns when you play lebron and wade together. They also know that the weak bench is what kills that heat and letting lebron exclusively run the show with a bunch of bench shooters would be efficient as long as it didn't go on so long to wear him down (cleveland).
With that said, it seems logical to play three lines for the heat
chalmers wade miller bosh anthony
This is your starting lineup. You get good rebounding and establish bosh as the offensive presence while playing through wade.
bibby jones miller lebron illgauskas
Lebron comes in and absolutely explodes on the other teams bench while distributing the ball to four shooters. This may be the highest +- group in the league since lebron is fresh and you're playing against the other team's bench.
bibby/chalmers(hot hand) wade jones lebron bosh
This is your closing lineup. You get the ball in the hands of FRESH lebron or wade and theres nobody to help off of.
With their current roster, there is no way they can consistently put up enough points and play at a high enough level with lebron and wade getting 40 minutes together. You have to stagger them to be great. You get better returns playing them apart because lebron can take over an entire game by himself.
People focus way too much on who starts a game instead of who is efficient and who is finishing the game. 5/17/2011 1:40:03 AM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148441 Posts user info edit post |
the only somewhat comparable scenario to what you're proposing is when Ginobli came off the bench for San Antonio...at the time he hadn't blown up as a star, and Bowen still had a little lateral quickness and was a better defender who deserved to start for his defense
bringing Lebron off the bench on the other hand is retarded...I don't disagree that when you play Wade and Lebron together that their stats will suffer a little because the other one is getting looks, but you don't pay a guy $16 million a year to come off the bench, anyone that knows basketball knows that 5/17/2011 1:51:36 AM |
