Of course liverpool fans wouldn't give a shit you've been skating this entire time. I can't believe I actually agree with wazza on something but bragging about beating up on the sisters of the poor is lame. These sides you've been drawn against are a joke. If you come up against a Barca/Real/Bayern or any top 10 club in Europe and win 5-0 then by all means flood this thread with boasts because it would be fully deserved.
And yes I'm butthurt because Spurs have gotten hard teams from the jump (except APOEL) and have yet to lose a match in the competition 2/15/2018 10:17:00 AM |

Feels pretty good to beat anyone 5-0. Back to 2012/13, there have only been three other round of 16 margins of victory of 5 or more, once each by Real, Barca and Bayern.
You're out here bragging about a tie far more than Pool fans bragged about 5-0. "best front 3" is really the only brag I've seen and that far predates this game.
Feel like it would be worse if we acted like we totally expected that result and who cares

Well to be a team for the ages you kind of have to:
- Win the treble - Go undefeated - Break the points record
So after listening to 7 months of everyone and their mother going on and on about how Pep is the savior of football and this city team is the best in the PL era now we have excuses like an FA cup doesn't define their season.
Would be absolutely hilarious if all City won is the league and United matched their trophy haul by winning the FA cup.

If the FA cup is actually a big deal, then why are most of the big clubs still playing rotated sides through the round of 16?
It's a second rate trophy nowadays and most of the players care about the league and CL. The FA is cup isn't what players come to England dreaming about winning. Sorry to burst your bubble thinking that an FA cup would be on par with City's season. That's a silly thing to even mention.
As a sidenote, the inferiority complex with you and City is quite amusing. You just can't stand that they're levels above your club at the moment and you'll grasp at any straw to try and convince yourself otherwise. 2/20/2018 9:59:28 AM |

The fact that you think I put the FA cup in the same stead as the league is funny. FA cup is the third best trophy you can win every year so in that context it is certainly important and much more prestigious than you are making it. In fact Tottenham's last decade would be defined by a victory in this year's FA Cup and that is one club which should be taking it more seriously than everyone else.
I didn't say our season would be the same as City's if both of us had one trophy at the end, just that it would be hilarious if we matched their trophy haul. Clearly city is having a much better season (I have admitted this on multiple occasions but I guess that is just my inferiority complex).

Yes I have convinced myself that City and United are at the same level. I don't know how I am going to live with my rivals having a better season than the team I support.

One person saying they would be glad to see United get stuffed and another person (same?) months ago saying City looks like a phenomenal team (which they did) equals everyone on tww wanking over city. Ok.
Although they do still have a tough schedule ahead, it looks like City is still going to win the league fairly easily, which is what every poster but you has been insisting. So again, realistic predictions equals everyone wanking over City. 2/20/2018 10:33:33 AM |
wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
Your "realistic prediction" was said back in December before we had even played half a season. I have changed my tune since and clearly city is going to win the title. In case you want to have a peak I even said it myself that city is likely going to win the title but I would never say no other team has a shot until at least 25 matches or so are played and there is a gap of more than 10 points. You keep putting words in my mouth but never once did I say City wasn't going to win the title but that you can't crown them champions before half a season is played.
Please save me the revisionist history and don't act like there weren't articles out hailing city as the best team in the PL era back in December and that the general attitude wasn't the same on here. I got ridiculed for stating that city has a long way to go before even being mentioned in the conversation for team of the ages. The argument wasn't that they were simply good (no shit sherlock) but that they were a team for the ages. Which they aren't yet and won't be till May if they have more than 95 points.

So they only need 23 points from their last 11 matches for you to finally concede what everyone else has known all along?
They're also 24 behind the record goals scored so that's something to keep an eye on there. Especially if they run up the score on a minnow or two. 2/20/2018 12:25:17 PM |

Chelsea's organization is really good. Contained the forwards well and they are breaking quickly. I think Fabregas has been great today and likely holds the key to grabbing a goal for Chelsea on the transition.
Unlucky for Willian for sure. Barca often struggles away from home in the knockouts so a 1-0 would be huge for Chelsea. 2/20/2018 3:46:16 PM |

So Kante showed why he won POY in the BPL last season, he put on a master class performance.
For the most part a great game that came down to some unlucky misses and one defensive clearance lapse. Still in this tie but will be difficult at the Camp Nou. I would think Conte may switch out Pedro and put in Giroud or Morata. The latter only if he finds his form and confidence in these next 3 matches. I thought Pedro was largely anonymous last night and had several poor passes. 2/21/2018 10:18:39 AM |

I don't claim to know the managerial thought process, especially when you've got 2 legs and there are a ton of mind games being played, but I question why Conte decided to park the bus and play such a defensive minded match at home. It feels like Stamford Bridge is the the time to play striker with Hazard in behind and go after a win to be able to go to the Camp Nou and not need to score to win the tie.
Now they have to go to Spain and go after the game which puts Conte's cards on the table before the lineups are even announced and gives the Catalans a leg up in preparations. 2/21/2018 11:08:03 AM |

^ well it almost worked I mean Willian had a goal and 2 posts and almost had pass to Kante that would have probably been a goal. Just unlucky on a scuffed clearance that fell to Iniesta and set Messi up with a chance that he buried. I think Conte was going for speed, but if Morata wasn't in such lousy form he would have started. Yes they will have to chase the game but get a 1-1 or 2-2 draw and you still have a chance. 2/21/2018 11:41:05 AM |
Ribs All American 10713 Posts user info edit post |
Certainly still in it and they were a bit unlucky, but it just seems like it could have changed the entire mindset going into the 2nd leg if they tried to take some chances in this first leg. Then Conte could have parked the bus at the camp nou and played the counter with no strikers sitting on a lead. 2/21/2018 1:29:07 PM |

Disappointed Jose hasn't selected Shaw, Martial, and Pogba in this. Glad to see Mata, McTominay and Lindelof given the start but I think Shaw should have been rewarded.
Can't start Mata and Martial so I am ok with Mata getting the nod. Think Jose wants to slow this game down a lot and control the ball the way we have lined up. Going to make Alexis the focal point of the attack. Could backfire but could also tactically be a good decision.
Ballsy to experiment in a competition we need to progress in. Lets see how it goes.

Doesn't work if you end up losing 2-0 in the first leg. I think the thought is always to give yourself a shot in the second leg and take the chances you get in the first leg.

Can't really blame Lukaku when the tactics aren't set up to help you do your job. What is Lukaku supposed to do when he has virtually no support up top and the midfield is stagnant. This was a deliberate tactic for Mourinho but this team, especially in defense just isn't good enough to do it comfortably because we could have easily lost 2-0 yesterday.
Mourinho got the job done and we will likely advance but this shit will only work if we keep winning and progressing so he is playing a fine line between acceptable and shit.2/22/2018 9:43:54 AM |

Stings to see the Toby stuff in the papers this morning. I hate to lose him and when he's on form he's one of the best in the world. Part of me does feel like this is Toby's agent and Levy trying to play chicken with one another but we won't find out until the summer.
However, if there is one position we can afford to lose somebody is definitely CB. We've still got Verts, and Davinson has been a revelation this season. I honestly feel like he will develop into one of the best CB's in the world considering he's only 21 and already ridiculously good. Many Spurs fans also believe that CB is Dier's best position as well. Then you've got 20 year old Foyth waiting in the wings who has shown a ton of promise in cup matches... We'll be ok.
Take that Toby money and use it for Sessegnon and I'm happy. 2/23/2018 9:23:51 AM |

?? The column said United's D was bad but they were saved by De Gea, but if he slips they are in trouble. You seemed to say something similar above, the D is bad but as long as they keep winning/surviving its fine.
That column argued that if De Gea kept this phenomenal performance United would stay up at 2nd but if he slipped a little, United would slip with him. The only difference of opinion was you think he is unlikely to slip and they (once again, they, not me) think he WILL slip a little. 2/23/2018 4:32:43 PM |

I love the case you are making for yourself. Go read your bullshit article again. It is literally only shitting on United and the reason is because De Gea won't keep it up despite the fact that De Gea has been doing this for years now. So all of a sudden he is going to turn to shit?
Its even more insulting given the fact that the same bullshit doesn't apply to Kane or Salah. Oh if their forms dropped I guess Tottenham and Liverpool will still finish above united because stats. I mean let’s be honest. 2nd place would mean a lot to either of 3 of the 4 teams competing for it. Psychological it would be a huge boost to a team going into next season as the second place team. Also all of the teams vying for it have a potential chance at a trophy. Finishing second plus adding s CL trophy or a FA cup would be a nice addition.
