That hit/ejection had nothing to do with being defenseless. You don't need to hit a defenseless player to be called for targeting. He led with the crown of the helmet and hit the other guy in the head. That's targeting by rule.

Also yes the guy who hit Rozner the second time probably should have been called for targeting, for the same reason. Top of his helmet hit the bottom (facemask?) on Rozner and made his neck turn to rubber.

On the replay I thought the UL player led with his shoulder. I didn’t see him lead with crown of the helmet. Brown led with the crown of the helmet but I truly don’t know, as fast as football plays happen, what he should’ve done differently. I understand that by rule Brown’s was targeting. But i don’t like the rule.

1st down was an overthrow on a well defended Timmons on the sideline. 2nd down was a kinda busted play and we threw it away. 3rd down was a low percentage deep ball to KC on the sideline. Felt like 2 very low percentage plays and then i don’t even know what we were trying for on 2nd down. Just a weird sequence of play calling.

Armstrong just has no awareness. He doesn’t step up in the pocket to avoid pressure. He either tucks and runs or throws it to his first option no matter if he’s open.

Putting Morris behind this OL seems kinda dangerous and asking for an injury. He’s mobile but not built to take hits like Armstrong. But I’m not really defending the decision making that led to this.

As a fan the most infuriating part is how totally boring we are. We aren’t fun. We aren’t interesting. No body would be eager to tune into see us play.

^ I think most people agree that Anae is a fine coach. He turned Cuse offense around last year. UVa put up crazy numbers in 2021. I think we’ve got major personnel issues. I also kinda sorta wonder how much DD has his finger on the scale of the O…like…does our O look substantially different than it did under Beck? Or under the co-coordinators before that? I feel like (totally without any facts to back it up) Doeren might not be fully letting his OCs loose. Maybe. Idk.

The o line isn’t the problem man. We ran three straight designed QB runs in the redzone tonight. The play calling with Anae is asscheeks

The most confusing thing about tonight was that one drive after halftime where we had back to back deep completions. The drive ended with Armstrong throwing a terrible int in the end zone (big surprise) but we completely gave up on the deep passing game after that

That was a pathetic offensive game. So bad to watch. Armstrong is bad, receivers are bad, online is awful. Feel bad for the Defense for the 2nd year in a row, no offense to help then out. Wilson is the only thing exciting to watch.

Idk how you can think this. Armstrong has very little time to do anything. OL, in addition to poor pass protection, creates no holes for RBs. And also had multiple penalties tonight. The entire offense is broken right now. There’s no part of it that looks good. But the offensive line is pretty horrible.

Armstrong is our best running threat (not really meant as a compliment to Armstrong), I don’t think calling designed runs for him is anywhere near the biggest issue

There are no brights spots in our offense except maybe young potential talents and one got hurt tonight. Maybe Belton has played well. McMahon was out most experienced lineman right? And I think he was out again tonight.

Also the neutral twitter opinion (filtered though nc state fans I guess) seems to say the targeting was at minimum wrong by spirit of the law.

But the defense was great tonight, I'm going to miss Payton Wilson and be sad we likely wasted his contributions.

Well NC State fans on Twitter are wrong. That's exactly the type of hit the targeting rule was put in place for. Lowered his head, led with the crown and made contact with the other guys head. Super obvious and super easy to call. Yeah it sucks, but it was right. There are some targeting calls i don't agree with, but that one definitely wasn't one of them
