serious question, what are you supposed to do if you are bitten by a tick?

I got it out, including the head, but now I'm all freaked out that I'll get lyme disease or some shit. It was a tiny little, all brown tick (I dont think it was a deer tick which is two-toned) and couldnt have been in my leg more than 15-20 minutes while I did some yard work

the wife is saying that people get bitten by ticks all the time and its nothing to worry about, but I'm a paranoid asshole. HALP t-dub
