It seems like the interviewer doesn't like State. See the interview with Ryan Harrow as further evidence. No one questioned O.J. Mayo when he went to USC or when Michael Beasley went to Kansas State. 6/17/2009 11:28:30 PM |

A lot of those questions were loaded as shit but hey, hopefully our play on the court this year makes him want to come back.

I cannot take anything from that website seriously because the author clearly has a bias. If and when a more objective writer asks CJL about his recruiting, I will be more inclined to read what is said.
But that douche is an obvious hack, probably a tarhole who went to community college because he couldn't get into Elizabeth City State. 6/18/2009 9:48:56 AM |

^ With Harrow it makes sense. The cookie-cutter recruiting sites look at a kid's size (height/weight) and offer list, with maybe some high school stats and a recruiting video thrown in too. Everyone that's seen Harrow actually PLAY in person however has him much higher in their Top 100 lists. 6/18/2009 12:59:55 PM |

I don’t even know who half of the people are that say that to me. I could just be walking down the street and someone will stop me and say, “You’re way too good to go to State.” It’s crazy.
HSH: I’m curious, did the overall lack of respect for the State program contribute to you de-commiting? CL: I don’t know about that. I’m not gonna lie, it didn’t help the program to hear that stuff all the time. But it wasn’t a big affect. It had an affect, but it wasn’t a big affect. " |

im not saying that, i'm saying that YOU saying that stuff to the media when all NC State University did was be the first one to (1)recognize your talents (2) recruit you & (3) offer you a scholarship and a free ride (waaaaaaaaaaay in advance), speaks a lot about your character.
he could be a bit more respectful of his hometown university.

Half our team is cocksuckers then I guess... That Russell Wilson character is a huge douche too.
^^ not in this case... but that would at least be understandable though what we have done the last two seasons I don't expect many people to respect us. Win and that will change, though.

^ WPH is indeed biased, but they're biased in that it's an NC State blog run by NC State alumni for NC State fans. A site like that will always give a more optimistic, positive, glass 1/2 full spin on things.
What WPH doesn't do is throw other teams under the damn bus. They don't go outa their way to bash other teams. You don't see them firing potshots at UNC, Duke, etc.
Jason Jordan on the other hand asked about CJ decommitting and followed up with the following:
1) "So you basically jumped at the 1st offer you got and then came to your senses, right?"
2) "Isn't it true that you decommitted from State b/c your just too good for them (and they suck)?"
As I've said before, the bball team's performance this year is critical. If the team comes together and overachieves, then Lowe should continue to have success bringing in quality players. If not, he might not have a job period.

simooooooooooooooooooonn... um... meh I got nothin'
Here's my favorite part of the Lowe press conference (Kudos to WPH for getting the transcript up so quickly):
Quote : | "Q: Coming into your fourth year does it feel like its actually your first, seeing as this is the first season with your players?
Coach Lowe: "It does, it does, because it is the first time we're going to be young. It's the first time that it's going to be the majority of my guys."
Q: Do you feel like this is your chance to put your stamp on the program?
Coach Lowe: "Absolutely, absolutely. There is no question about it and I've gotten that from three different college coaches. "This is your chance to make a mark, this is your chance to change things...you can change the culture"
Q: Who were the 3 coaches?
Coach Lowe: "Tubby Smith, Tom Izzo and Todd Bozeman."
Q: Does that type of thing excite you, does this opportunity excite you?
Coach Lowe: "I'm excited. I'm extremely excited. I just like the way the guys are together right now. The way they're carrying on, the way they're working. I'm excited about the guys I know are going to be better. I really expect Dennis Horner to have a great year for us, I really do. I didn't recruit him, but you know what, he stuck it out, he stayed here. He could have left. He's bigger now, he's been in the gym, he's working out, his mind set is good. I think Javi is going to be better. I think Johny is going to be better, he's going to play more. I'm just really excited."" |

If nothing else, the chemistry on this year's team should be a huge improvement.
Interesting he throws out Horner and JT when talking about improvements. Guess that's proof that Lowe plan to start Horner and not one of the new recruits at the PF spot (as he should). 6/19/2009 9:32:49 AM |

what i think that quote speaks more of, is Dennis didn't feel like a part of the team with the upperclassmen around. like they'd clown on him or something for being....dennis horner.
maybe that team really did have some fucked up chemistry issues the past two years. maybe we're better off without them.

Engin wasn't even a full-time PG til his senior year. He was pretty damn good that year though.
Justin Gainey was solid. Four-year starter, all-ACC choice in '99, top-10 in school history in assists. He's the guy that played every minute of every game during the 1997 ACC Tournament (we played four games, so 160 minutes). 6/21/2009 10:29:16 PM |

I was at this pep rally at the McKimmon Center to welcome Coach Lowe, I think kevmcd was there with some of his friends, and Coach Lowe was introducing the staff. When he came to Gainey he asked him about the 1997 tournament and the legend that he played every minute, but he confessed that he actually came out for 2 minutes in one game.
