Sewing is actually really easy if you're good at learning from a book and using the internet to find videos. I started in December and have made a few good pieces. I'm starting to do tops using instructions to make them fit better. That's part of what inspired me to start sewing - I want tops that aren't too tight in the bust and too loose in the waist. It's also nice to be able to make my skirts knee length like I prefer.

This is my favorite sewing blog: http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/

All these swimsuits are great, but does anyone have any suggestions for affordable maternity swimsuits? (besides Motherhood Maternity or Target).

Although I'm probably less worried about my body image now that I'm pregnant, I need some coverage.

I'm gonna try some regular suits in larger sizes and see if that works.

I think something like this in a larger size would work...

ugh i have started getting breakouts on my chin - like the side of my chin kinda on the jaw line. they aren't bad they are the under the skin kind of pimple so not that noticeable unless you are very very close to my face.

but still what gives? stress? cell phone?

i wash my face with st. ives and have for years (i have never had a breakout problem and my skin is pretty dry) but i guess i need to switch it up for a little bit to combat the chin break out. any suggestions?

Okay I can't decide what I should do...

Should I buy a new pair of shorts or a new bathing suit?

I am in need of both, but I can only afford to buy one of them right now...

Thanks! it's really tough to get used to for sure. And since I've never done this before plus trying to tighten it on my own - rather entertaining for sure. But it looks good

I just called them to make sure mine was not on back order because I did not get that message but now that message is up. The lady said I got one of the last ones. Now my size is on back order and you can't start ordering again until June 1st.

I will let you know how it goes. I hope it is a good fit because it looks so cute!

I get those types of break outs too...and I have noticed that when I'm sitting in class or at the computer I tend to rest my head in my hand, and my hand hits right there when I break out the most...I need to get out of that habit

I had to parakeets for like 4 days....one day one of them escaped from the cage and when I got home from class it started flying all over the house. As soon as I walked in the door it flew right over my head so I hit the floor and crawled to my room.

We gave the birds away to our neighbors who put the birds in their store for entertainment purposes...

Congrats on the ponytail btw...

But you know what sucks...even though I don't have a period, I still PMS and I still have super crazy cravings for chocolates and sugar...uggggg

how horrible is it to NOT wear black/navy to a funeral? i know it is inappropriate and my mom would probably kill me but i'm just so sick of a) funerals and b) wearing debbie downer clothes

i mean i can always use new professional dresses so i guess purchasing another black/navy dress wouldn't be horrible and it would be the most appropriate thing

i know i don't need to buy a new dress for my grandmother's funeral but i'm reading something and while i have SOME dresses if i'm going to be attempting not to cry in front of a bajillion people i want to at least look kinda cute. and i can't stand to put on the dress i wore to my mom's funeral (which is what i was planning on but i think i might just vomit and die if i have to wear that again).

i'm looking at ann taylor and banana. maybe jcrew? i just kinda want something new (looking on the bright side?!). but they have a lot of things i like that aren't black or navy. sigh. i guess i should stick with traditional but boooo.

i wore a pink blouse with black pants to my grandmother's funeral, which is the only funeral i've ever been to actually. it was in the summer and most people wore something kind of bright with dark pants or a skirt. but my family is huge and there were very few unrelated people in attendance so i'd guess it would differ depending on your circumstance

would your grandmother have cared if you weren't wearing black?

If no, then wear what you like. I wouldn't suggest hot pink but you have, or can come up with, plenty of good reasons for not dressing like Morticia

^^ can you find a cute gray dress and maybe 'brighten' it up with a cream cardigan?

i dont know about wearing bright colors to a funeral, might be a bit tacky, but i understand not wanting to wear back again

when my great grandmother died, my mom and dad asked me to wear a pink blouse because it was my great grandmother's favorite color and she hated black.

i know that is what i think it might be tacky.

i have a gray suiting dress that i could probably wear and maybe do a cardigan so that it isn't so blahhhh.

i actually DONT own a navy dress so if i end up buying something i will do navy because i could use a navy wrap dress. i'll prob go to ann taylor tomorrow cause they are like pros at black and navy wrap dresses hah.

^ awww. yea. i mean i just can't decide. she did love blue so maybe i will wear blue (navy or something not too bright). my family is so judgy already i don't really want to read something but i'm doing it for my mom and grandmother not them. they asked and i said yes because if i said no there wouldn't be anyone else from my part of the family (cause my dad wouldn't do it and i doubt my brother could hold it together)

I wore a bright purple dress to my Great-Grandmother's funeral. But that was her favorite color, and I was a pall-bearer. I think it really depends on the crowd your with. If it's a smaller crowd, and you know almost everyone, then definitely go for it. If it's a large crowd full of judgy people, it may not go over as well. But ultimately, it's your family member, and you choose what way you best want to pay your respects. Mine was by wearing color, because I knew she would not have liked all-black at her funeral.

Edit: I also had a black cardigan that I could throw over the dress if I needed to. You might could do that for the reading, just so you wouldn't feel uncomfortable, if you did decide to go with a non-navy blue.

thanks for the ideas!! this is helpful. i mean i wouldn't wear like hot pink if i went with anything colorful but i wish there was a way to have color and not be tacky

maybe with navy or a dark blue dress

i have no idea how big the crowd is going to be cause she was 92 so most of her friends are dead. but i do know my family can be judgy so. i should probably try to keep it somewhat conservative and traditional.

maybe i could do a navy shift or something with a green cardigan.

i know i LOVE the second one. it comes in black though so i guess i could still get it and just wear a cardigan. because its something i would wear again i feel like the cut is cute.

OR if i try it on and the color looks ok with my skin tone i might just say fuck it. i do what i want.
