We're a basketball school because of our history and our Tobacco Road location and rivalries. But if you look at the football vs. basketball game attendance and the fact that we have a tailgating scene better than all but 2 or 3 ACC schools, I'd say we're a football school just as much. We just don't have the heralded history there.

Our fans realize that NC State is historically a basketball school but I think the majority of us enjoy State football just as much if not more.

The way I see it is that we're what our fans make of us, and if they enjoy going to football games more, then that would make us a football school. I'm not saying that is the case, because we have good attendance for basketball too, but we were sold out or near sold out for every single football game last year...and that was nowhere near the case for basketball.

We are neither ... just a fanbase that wants to be relevant in SOMETHING ... which over the past 10 years came via Football more than anything else ...

Hopefully now we can be happier about both sports, but we'd have to start winning championships of some sort in either sport before you call us a "____ school"

As for the too soon for commitments arguement, michigan has 16 already and a majority of the BCS conference schools are on the board. Just was pointing out that we'll likely end up with the same meh haul again next year

We suck at recruiting but we make up for it with TOB's player building/development. We wouldn't be able to recruit national level talent anyway so I don't see the point of complaining about lack of 5* recruiting.

For there to be at least some news of progress, recruits saying theyre interested in us or anything. We have great facilities, i cant comprehend how we arent better at recruiting players.

Now that i think about it, ACC football is continuing to get worse(even moreso withthe addition of cuse and pitt), so a team of 2 and 3 star recruits probably could get 7 wins and a shitty bowl every year

as far as recruiting success, i really think we have to either play in the ACC title game AT LEAST or outright win it in order for recruiting to really pick up. I just don't see how else it can. Also, there's probably no better time than this year to actually win the ACC. FSU will be good, Clemson too, but we have to find a way to beat them, everyone else in the Atlantic will essentially be rebuilding (BC, UMD, Wake (loses a lot of offensive fire power)).

We've "sucked" at recruiting since TOB has been here and he did the same thing at Boston College. He's done fine so far in both places (only did shitty in the beginning with a majority of Amato's players).

And some teams get a lot of early commits (Texas almost always fills out their class early) while some are closers (like FSU...just using big time examples). TOB likes to see players at his camp before offering.

That's how we roll. We've been winning lately. Our basketball team is in the Sweet 16 and our baseball team is winning and loaded with young studs. Eat a dick.

All it would take is a quick stroll through campus on a sunny spring day with all the ladies laying out on the lawn trying to get their summer tan on to convince most high school aged dudes that UNC is a great place to go be a stud athlete.
