So we get a 10' box truck, throw a portion of my stuff in it after the govt people get in and out of here, then I drop off the truck at the destination after unloading and ride back with whoever came with me in their car.

The government is moving me.

Their scheduling blows shitfucks though, so I have to move part of my stuff myself so I have somewhere to sleep and some connection to the outside world before all of my other possessions can be delivered some time after I start work.

They were slow to issue me travel orders then the people I was supposed to send them to were very slow to respond. Hoopty fuck, what a surprise, they can't get my shit delivered before I start work.

At least I don't have to pay for temp storage. Just gotta float the $200 to rent a damn box truck and get it weighed so the government will reimburse me.

Oh yes, quite unemployed. Just about out of money now as well. Should be able to scrape by until the first paycheck gets deposited.

And yeah, it is a pain in the ass. My options are to move everything I own myself (OK that's not a ton of stuff but I don't have enough willing people to move my entire apartment in a single day of pack/ship/travel/unload/travel back), let the government move everything and take whatever I can fit in a jeep cherokee (this is not very much, think: clothes, inflatable mattress, laptop, medication, maybe a desktop computer), or let the government take 2/3 of everything and the other 1/3 myself (basically a bed, desk, office chair, computer, some clothes I'll box up, and my meds (in a second trip the next day)).

This should be a working solution. Should be.

On the way home from work, I was following a cop, and we passed a car with no lights on whatsoever (not even parking lights)... this fucking cop did NOTHING, and then proceeded to change lanes from an exit only lane at the very last second without using his turn signals. If I were in front of this cop and did the same thing, I'd be willing to bet I would have been pulled over, and given a citation. Cops that don't follow the rules of the road PISS ME THE FUCK OFF

They'll take care of my stuff OK, it's just that I can't wait two weeks past my start date at work to have a bed and a computer and clothes and dishes and cooking stuff and so on. Stuff like a couch, entertainment center, dining room table, art/paintings, shelving, and the stuff I have in various storage containers can come later on. I get a free paid day off from work for it since the government couldn't get my stuff here before I start work.
