the whole fucking state can be dry and my little corner of Pender County will get soaked. i hope this doesn't fuck things up where they can't pre-treat my foundation for termites tomorrow.

All I know is we have had some fucking downpours this year, and my basement has not leaked, and I think I have finally fixed it from leaking.

No to fix the roof. :/

Pretty sure the downpours last week washed out most of my grass seed. And I'm pretty sure the last several days of rain have drowned the new sprouts in large areas of my yard.

le sigh

i had the same problem at a project site I just graded and seeded

on the plus side, the grassed swales are now extremely grassed swales and the birds are loving the banks of the sediment pond

Getting slammed in Carrboro right now. Tremendous downpour and some sharp lightning!

Can't believe we aren't under a weather statement or warning!

^^^ t-storm warnings are normally only issued for chance of hail or high winds. Lighting and rain isnt much, unless its causing flooding. There probably was a "special weather statement" issued last night but technically thats just an advisement, nothing really about it.

someone explain hail causing frame damage on a car. I just don't get it.

[Edited on April 9, 2015 at 9:11 AM. Reason : maybe they mean body frame. ]

Some of the hail in Louisburg was near baseball size. It damages cars because it comes down at a terminal velocity of over 100 mph. Hail is also rock solid and usually pretty dense. One person was taken to the hospital after being injured last night. It totaled many cars and broke windows in houses and likely did some roof damage as well. I am not sure about the car frames but if a car is damage badly enough by dents it can be considered totaled.

Here is a pic from last night someone posted to Mike Maze

Luckily that storm slid just north east of me as I live up 401. Watching the lightning from afar was pretty nice. I remember watching it on the radar and seeing it peak out and thinking surely that thing is dropping some major hail right now. Guess this confirms that.

Last night was brutal for about 5-10 minutes in Franklinton/Youngsville. We had golf ball size hail. Luckily I haven't found any major damage.

Quarter sized hail in Greensboro last night around 2am. Incredible thunder and lightning. The storm cell just seemed to multiply over my house. It's been years since I've gotten a storm that decent.

We have had a little rumbling and some dark skies, but no honest to goodness thunderstorms like the one this morning. Usually I sleep through that shit too, but it was so loud I fucking dreamed about it.

Supposedly these storms have a higher percentage of positive charged lightning strikes. These originate higher up in the clouds and as a result can be window rattlers. It sounded like someone was banging on my front door around 7-8pm
