Hope the appellate judge is more competent than Gessner. He should lose his seat over this case.

So how does one go about submitting a formal protest of Gessner and the DA's office? I'll write a letter (which will probably get canned) but I wonder if there is any other form of protest or attention that can be brought to this case at a higher level from people like us on TWW?

They had ample opportunity to tie him to the scene of the body (using forensics) and did not, the tire tracks did not match, the shoe prints were the wrong size, the "hay" they said was in both places was never collected or tested for consistency.

Her stomach had no food in it despite everyone testifying she ate at the party, proving she was not killed that night as they contended.

I watch first 48 all the time and the detectives love to say "evidence does not lie, people do" in this case the evidence pointed to innocence and the jury got caught up in a perceived obligation to blame someone .

there's some really out-dated process that involves writing your issues out on standard blank paper, then mailing them to an address in Raleigh. No standard form, no real rhyme or reason to it, from what I hear.

then they had the nerve to send a note asking the defense to wrap it up so they could leave, then they got the case, took a nice long lunch, sent a man to prison for life, and called it a day.

yep, they sent a handwritten note to the judge on one of the last days of the defense's side that said something about hurrying it up so they could get back to their lives. Even the judge was a bit miffed at it.

What made it more ridiculous was that the prosecution wrapped after 7-8 weeks of testimony and the defense only used 2 weeks.
