i guess i understand the people saying that the girl will never forgive the friend, that it is a horrible experience, etc etc.

but what else is a friend supposed to do to keep the person from hurting him/herself and others? tell her family? talk to her? i mean i get the friend could take her keys and stuff if the friend is hanging out with her, to prevent her from driving, but the friend can't be her guardian 24/7. what else can be done in lieu of the mental health facility (that isn't a rhetorical question that is an honest, what would you ^ have wanted done question)

In my opinion, if they receive treatment and come out on the other side of it a healthier person that they will be grateful that someone helped them when they hit rock bottom. I feel like ill feelings are for those that do not accept help or aren't truly on the other side yet.

I'm able to say this as a problematic drinker who was forced into a treatment program and while it was humiliating, it ended up being the best thing that could have happened to me.

there are no perfect PEOPLE out there. period. settling is one thing. compromising is another. just keep your chin up and remember not to confuse the two! definitely don't settle for someone who doesn't love you and treat you right. but remember that compromise is part of every relationship (whether its with family, friends, lovers whatever). its taken me awhile to learn that. and i have been learning the hard way. i'm still learning actually, lol.
