I've been using a Glock 23 and Crossbreed Supertuck for the past few months and I've been more than pleased with comfort and concealment.

I think most, if not all red dots are reflex type designs.
Do you mean red dot vs holographic as in Aimpoint vs EOTech?

When I built my AR I looked at the various Aimpoints and EOTechs. I would've preferred a Trijicon ACOG but they're too expensive.
I went with the EOTech. Battery life on Aimpoints is a whole lot better than an EOTech, like at least twice as good, usually 3 times as good. I still picked the EOTech because I like the reticle a lot more. That 65MOA circle is very quick and the 1MOA (it's actually a little smaller than 1MOA) dot in the middle is finer than those found on Aimpoints. I feel like it's the best reticle for both close range and long distance shooting.
I also feel like the EOTech is less intrusive. When you use it it feels like it's just you and a reticle vs feeling like you're looking through an optic.
Lastly the EOTech sight picture just looks better. You don't lose any light and there is no distortion, both of which you'll find in cheaper red dots.

Wait, no, that wasn't the last reason. The last reason is it's cheaper than a quality reflex sight.

I pocket carry an LCP in a Desantis Nemesis. Trying to figure out something bigger I can carry IWB. I did carry a Kahr CW9 in a CBST, but I think I want more energy. Any thoughts?

I bought a Glock 36 for CC but my wife took it to carry.

So now it's either Glock 17 or a 1911 IWB.

I don't know if I'll buy another CC gun. I shoot a 19 at work but I have big hands and don't like it all that much.

guy in my dad's CHP class was shooting a Bersa Thunder 380. towards the end of the live fire portion of the class, the muzzle end of the slide broke off.

My carry gun is a Kel-Tec P3AT (.380) with Crimson Trace LASER.

The fit & finish is dismal, but I've never had a problem with it, and while it's kind of unpleasant to shoot (as anything that size is), it's pretty accurate given its tiny size and vestigial sights, as well as heavy trigger with super-long pull. That, and nothing (at least at any reasonable price) in this class is as small as a P3AT...and as a bonus, nothing else is as cheap, either (other than some giveaway prices on the Taurus TCP, I guess because some people had problems with them and they developed a bad reputation?)

the LCP is almost identical in size and most would agree it is reasonably priced



also, the LCP comes with the little spur on the bottom of the mag that makes it much easier to get your ring finger on the grip.

Yeah, it's only a little bigger and not that much more expensive. I think it'll also lock open, which is nice. It would be my other choice in this class, barring a cost-no-object approach (which then isn't really exactly the same class).

To me, the biggest factor (aside from reliability) was being really tiny (without going below .380, down to .32 or something). That it was a little cheaper was just a bonus to me. For my purposes with a pocket pistol, I didn't really give a shit about the Kel-Tec's fit and finish (or lack thereof ), as long as the function is there.

That's pretty much why I shoot a 1911, and why I don't have a Glock (I like everything else about them...if they even were DA/SA like a SIG, I'd have one).

6.35 is the metric (mm) equivalent of .25 caliber (.25"). I am 99.99999% sure that it's chambered in .25 ACP...I don't know if they carry it at Wal-Mart, but a decent gun shop should have it.

There is that outside 0.00001% chance there is some oddball and/or Communist-bloc cartridge that is the same caliber (diameter) but different case length/shape, and the .25 auto (same as .25 ACP; Automatic Colt Pistol) ammo you got with the gun is actually incorrect.

...but I am confident in saying that it's a .25 ACP.




Now, if you want to have some ammo for it and shoot it every now and then just because of what it is and the personal history, then great.

If you want to actually carry it for self-defense, I implore you to go get a modern pocket pistol in something bigger than .25 ACP. That is a near-extinct caliber that is woefully, extremely, dangerously, terribly underpowered. At best, it is equivalent to a .22 (LR, rimfire-type). In most loads, I think it's actually even LESS powerful. In other words, I'm not aware of a less powerful firearm, unless you load a .22 with .22 shorts...the only things I can think of with less grunt would be BB/pellet guns (and some of them would be more powerful).

gonna mount this Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR and see what it'll do. the squirrels around here were in pretty bad shape before, but now it'll be downright unfair.

You ever run a 452? There is a 455 for sale locally for a great price, but all the guys over at RFC keep saying how the 452 is still king. I personally have shot both and without the numbers on the side I'm not sure I could tell a difference. I wonder what your thoughts are.

no, this is my first experience with CZ. the 452 is getting hard to find, apparently. i think you're talking about the 455 w/ threaded bbl on CSF, which i looked at pretty hard, but i have no interest in suppressors and i just didn't like how the thread protector screwed up the classic look of the rifle.

i put around 40 rds through it today. the groups were on the large side, but i'm sure it just needs a proper break-in and some ammo testing. i also need to adjust the trigger pull down, but i'll probably end up putting in the trigger kit from YoDave on RFC because it's got a little creep. first and foremost, i need to get a bore guide that'll fit it.

...so, I plan on replacing my Saiga 12 with another one and build it up just like the one I had.

I think I'm gonna replace my Remington 700 (in 7mm REM) with a single-shot Handi-Rifle, probably chambered in something in either the .308 or maybe .30-06 case families. The impetus for going 7mm REM back when I bought that rifle 15 years ago was that I could only afford 1 rifle, and I wanted it to be suitable for any big game animal on the continent. Now, something like a 7mm-08 would be perfect for whitetails (or any other deer). If I ever get a chance to go hunt something really big, I'll just go buy myself a .30-cal or larger magnum.

I also don't see much need for a repeating action to hunt deer, and the Handi would be cheap, lightweight, and accurate enough for any shot I'm likely to get (and if I go out west and take a 600m shot at an elk or something, I'll need a hotter caliber, anyway).



I kinda want a smaller (5-6mm range) target/varmint-style, uber-accurate rifle, but that'll be another project for another day.
