- he's from Bucks County
- his wife was a Villanova cheerleader
- he makes $2M a year
- he coaches in, at worst, a comparable conference
- he coaches in fertile recruiting ground

I have a better chance of seeing a Polar Bear walking down Six Forks on my lunch break than we have of getting Jay Wright.

I have no good options at this point but seriously fuck the idea of going after skinner or purnell what is the point of hiring a former ACC coach who has already proved they cant get it done. At this point since it appears the reset button has been hit I think Yow should start interviewing young high risk coaches that we can get on the cheap. A guy like Stevens or Smart before they became successful at their respective school. Worst case in five years we see it was another failed experiment and we arent down a ton of money. Best case we get our own Stevens or Smart and then we pay the guy.

Yes, always great idea to make a move that will result in losing well over 10 million dollars a year with no added benefit. Reynolds is "quaint" but by no means an enjoyable experience.

Have we looked into the viability of outsourcing the head coaching job to save money?

Does the RBC have Citrix for remote access?

I bet there are a million Patel's that would take the job in a flash.

We'd need to hire a nutrionist in-house to nmake sure the team still gets enough protein but the cost savings would still be impressive.

What they can get done is take a shit team to 9-10 conference wins and on the bubble. We need like, oh, ten straight years of that before we earn enough credibility to lure a decent coach here.

Sounds alot like Yow dicked around talking to Miller, Barnes and Donovan for three weeks and now we missed out on some decent candidates that could have been available... Gillespie, Mike Anderson, Mooney, etc.

How hard is it to find a coach somewhere that knows how to coach basketball? that's all we need. we have talent, assuming they don't leave and decommit, so just teach them how to play defense and don't be boring as shit on offense. surely there are people out there that can do this and win at least 6 or 7 ACC games next year. recruiting might not be great, but we won't lose much, and should be better in 2012-13 than we've been in a while (once again, assuming nobody leaves)

I still want to know what the real deal with Marshall was. Was it:
A)We turn him down because we just didn't want him after all? (Bad, bad idea at this point--rather have him than some nobody, I think, and makes us look foolish)
B)We turn him down because he wanted more $$ than we thought he was worth?
C)He turns us down for any number of reasons?


Also, though no one seems to be talking about him anymore anyway, I doubt we have any chance at Lonergan after all. Why? He was one of Gary Williams' assistants at UMD for a year, in I think 2005 or 2006. As violently as Williams hates Yow, I'm sure one of his assistants would not have a positive view of her either. In fact I've started to wonder how much Williams has affected this search--not only does he have an intensely personal dislike of DY, but screwing her over benefits him doubly because it weakens an in-conference rival. So he's probably been badmouthing her like it's a full-time job to anyone who might be considering us. Win-win for him.

well, i'm sure ADs and coaches can call other ADs and ask to speak to their coaches since he worked with her for a long time.. I don't think GW is out there like scouring the internet for any coaches that might be linked and bashing her, but when they call, he's probably not being helpful to us.
