Already is in the northern parts of the area.

Also, tropical setup in Atlantic right now that if something forms, might be to watch for here.

rain passed through town an hour ago. And the roads look like a complete disaster now (according to google map's traffic feature).

Traffic was terrible, as expected, while the heavy rain was coming down. Definitely didn't help that people were going 30-35 in the far left lane.

Tonight is the night

Bright lights, hype crowd

Yeah, we came to throw down

Everybody get loud

Tonight is the night

A-list, can't miss

When we burn it to the ground

Everybody get down

Tonight is the night

We stayed grindin' while our fame kept risin'

Steady climbin', now we on top

It's not something you get, it's just something we got

Cause I don't know if you know

If you know we playin' or not, tonight

Lights flashin'

When we step in the place

And you can feel the raw excitement

From the look on their face

It's like the prize right in front of my eyes to take

And the sky's the limit, got no time to waste

Tonight's the big go

Strike quick but creep slow

The competition is absent

The moment that we show

Count down from 3 go

Press X to reload

Yet they still try to topple the kingdom that we own

Outnumbered but outgunnin'

We're fearless and crowd stunnin'

Never an error on record

There's no one to protect yah

And we would still be right here

If all the money was burned

But we stay bumpin' in your ear

Cause the money was earned, yo

You can find us climbing settin' the bar

Or you could find us red carpet when we hittin' it hard

Cause the truth is you can find us wherever you are

Just look up, we're flying high with the stars causeā€¦

Tonight is the night

Charlotte is going through the longest sustained downpour not in a Hurricane I think i've ever witnessed. It has been absolutely pouring for a couple hours now...nonstop. And looking at the radar, i dont think its gonna stop for a while.

So is Charleston. RIP jbrick83.

But seriously, Columbia has lost bridges, dams and buildings. I keep getting updates from my family who lives there. I had booked a hotel to visit my Grandmother in Columbia this weekend and canceled Friday morning. Thank goodness. My grandmother said she's never seen anything like it, and she has been around for some epic flooding like Floyd before.

When I see any of the pictures at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3258624/East-coast-storms-leave-22million-Americans-flood-watch-rain-Carolinas-kills-two.html, it makes me wonder, shouldn't the storm drains take the water away?

I have not experienced anything like that in the US, so I am asking an honest question. I would have thought the storm drainage systems would be sophisticated enough to evacuated the water pretty quickly, so that it wouldn't build up to such crazy levels in the first place, as can be seen in Charleston below.

Most storm and sewer infrastructure is old and we need investment, but you still aren't designing for a 200+ year storms event

there is so much water that the storm drainage system is overwhelmed.

Plus, it's South Carolina. They don't invest in infrastructure.

And think about where the drainage systems take the water. They take them to the lakes and rivers that are literally overflowing. The lakes are so high the dams are breaking, the rivers are so high the bridges are being washed away. South Carolina and specifically Columbia has never seen rain like this before, why would the drainage system be able to account for something that is unparalleled?

Barely made it through Columbia yesterday. Had to pull out all the stops to find my way around the I-20 closure while traveling east from Aiken. Downed trees and flooded roads all over the damn place

Last night and this morning, the local news had to remind people in eastern NC to stop walking around barefoot in the shit-infested flood waters. Sounds about right.

Pitt County has closed schools early today - wtf. Is it supposed to be that bad...it's just some strong wind and rain right?

That whole area tends to get slammed when we have a severe weather threat like this one. The last thing you want is a bunch of kids out on buses when there are high winds, hail, and/or tornadoes.

I had just gotten off the bus about 10 minutes before an F3 tornado came and ate my hometown when I was 12. Other kids still on the bus had to go get in a ditch.

^^Esp when "closing early" doesn't require make-up days. It's the same as a 2hr delay.

We live in an area of Wake county that is prone to high winds even in normal storms. It has already gotten us a new roof and playground for our daughter. I don't think I can make another claim.

Parents leaving work to pick up kids...other people just plain dipping out because they 'feel uncomfortable' being in the building during the storm.

Fuck it, I'm staying. Could be interesting to watch from a 10th story window.
