I would gladly write a letter.

This makes me want to chat with all these judges I've assisted in getting elected and let them know that if they even try to pull some Gessner shit I will flame them for life.

[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 5:02 PM. Reason : FUCK people are chatting about "circumstantial evidence" here at the office and I wanna yell]

It's really awkward reading that note since it's a good friend of mine's father and I couldn't disagree more with pretty much all of it.

These are people who make a living off sending the truth to go die. Do you REALLY think a letter will do anything? I mean, it may make YOU feel better to get those feelings onto paper.

But if you want something to change, it's gonna take a revolution. A real one, not a twitter one. Whenever you hear some redneck say "give him the chair" while watching a news clip about a guy suspected of murder, slap that redneck. Slap people. Berate people in public. Call the police on their kids.

until people get a taste of this shit, they:
a) would never believe it
b) couldn't fathom how bad it tastes

I honestly think that the first thing that any halfway decent prosecutor would do is get rid of anyone in the jury pool that looks even remotely intelligent. Seems like the bulk of the job is just to select a bunch of sheep and then herd them where you want them to go.

It should be a requirement in big/important cases like this for a jury to defend or back up their reasonings for their rulings...I'd love to hear what that'd be

lol i also dumb myself down when i venture out among the common man. tourist hats at the grocery store is my newest thing.

^as someone who loves observing the justice system at work, i'd LOVE to read a report stating just what the fuck they were thinking -- but I can't agree that it should be mandatory. even morons deserve the right to keep their thoughts to themselves

i am completely and utterly disgusted by this verdict and it scares the hell out of me that some one could be convicted of murder with no physical evidence at all. i am astounded!!

i have this habit on weekends of reading local news from other parts of the country... the WRAL.com of denver, shit like that.

people get railroaded like that all the time. but there's also that other side, where people shoot at their neighbors and get lower bond than someone who made a profane phone call

Assuming BC didn't do it... you've really got to feel for the guy.

She spent all his money
She slept around on him... likely with a dozen or more people
She made him raise a kid that wasn't his
And finally he goes to jail for killing her when he didn't even do it

you all may have seen my parking thread, how i tracked down people and wrote emails, letters, and made phone calls to get a sign changed. that was for something i barely had an opinion about.

this shit is a travesty, if anyone can give me some guidance on where to send formal complaints for stuff like this i need to vent onto some paper.

anyone know?

i'll ask my brother what he thinks (regarding how long).

he regularly reads those appellate briefs from start to finish, tons of them. his fascination is with the actual legislation and how it is written and interpreted by the different courts. it is pretty neat, but i couldn't do it.

we watched some of the trial together, and he was pointing out every potential argument for the defense if an appeal was needed.

i can see it getting by a jury, but i have a lot of faith that he will get a new trial. not that a new set of 12 average wake county citizens will help him much...

Probably 18-24 months for an appeal. It takes a very long time to get a trial transcript.

The jury is going to go home, read all the evidence they weren't allowed to see, and realize how big they screwed up.

^^Pretty sure that of the half of the jurors that can actually read half of them will never look back. They don't strike me as a group that likes to stay informed about things.

Since 1986 when now Chief Bazemore joined the Cary Police Department as a patrol officer, our community has seen 19 murders. And with every one that has been brought to trial, the suspect has been convicted. Clearly, our police department has the knowledge, skills, abilities, and resources to solve complex crimes. And many if not most of our police who worked on these cases also worked on the Cooper case as well as the other two murder cases of 2008."

does this sound right to anybody? what kind of department runs an investigation like this AND has a 100% win rate?

im glad i'm involved with the Innocence Project here at school, it sounds like this is a perfect case even if his appeal is unsuccessful.
