Next year will tell us all about coach Gott, these are now his players not lowes, with experience juniors (barber, anya, Washington, freeman),Lacey arguably our best player will be a Sr. Twins and Abu will have a year under belts. Preseason ranking probably 15-20 depending on how we finish(most experts are saying next year is the tell all year for us anyway). Must never hear any talk of a bubble, (major failure if that happens) and top 5 ACC finish should be in order. Should be a solid season if players play the way they are capable with their experience. I'd say anything less than Sweet 16 is a failed season. 3/3/2015 10:11:18 PM |

Shoot Seth Davis a tweet and ask, article on ESPN.com this week from a guy, sorry don't have the link and many of the play by play guys calling our games have stated this. Hell, just look at the experience on the roster, if you watch basketball on a regular basis then you should know. if it ain't next year then, Gott ain't the guy. These are his players now, no excuses. 3/3/2015 10:21:26 PM |

That's credible as fuck. I'm an ACC history fanatic, and to have any State coach to accomplish something that Case did is encouraging. Gott keep getting shit on TWW after every loss but keep in mind Gott has wins over every hall of fame coach in the ACC, 3/4 this season and hopefully 4/4 this Saturday...oh shit did I just jinx us 3/4/2015 1:11:38 PM |

Don't get it twisted. Gott should get shit on for bad losses. It's cause we know he can coach well and has brought in solid players (as shown with big wins). If you put in a bad week at work you will get flak for it. Let the fans vent.
Big picture though, after the frustration dust settles from BC type losses, Gott is the best man for this job right now. Has enough swag to take on this challenge of being in the shadow of the blues and now the rest of the ACC power additions. I don't want to see him leave at all costs. 3/4/2015 1:22:13 PM |

They're no fun but it happens even to the good programs which is why the media is deepthroating Kentucky. I just think his good wins outshines his bad losses. We're not that good of a program YET to not expect bad losses but next season may be different depending on attrition.
Quote : | "Let the fans vent." |
That will happen regardless, and I sure did my fair share. I'm just sick of the "fire Gott he's not taking us no where type of comments" because I think its stupid when you compare our current success to where we were previously.

I agree with PackGuitar wholeheartedly. We need to strike a balance between the doss2k mentality that we should never expect to achieve anything again and the FIRE NOW crowd. Gott has some frustrating lows, but some exhilarating highs as well. 3/4/2015 2:55:42 PM |

If there is such a thing as a basketball expert, they do not appear on television, I assure you. Also, if they were an actual basketball expert, certainly they would deserve more recognition than being referred to as "a guy".3/4/2015 3:04:26 PM |

I think the wild swings in quality of play have been more pronounced this season due to the relative youth of the team. We all want a consistent contender, but that just doesn't get built overnight, and certainly not right on the heels of a 5 year NCAA tournament drought. Gott's teams tend to peak offensively at the end of the year, which along with the overall improvement defensively, could make this his most dangerous post-season team yet. I'm already at the point where it would take consecutive losing seasons for me to totally bail on him, and that's looking highly unlikely with the way he recruits. 3/4/2015 4:10:43 PM |

we rely far too much on experienced sophomores/a redshirt junior/senior to count our swings in quality of play on youth
and I don't think the 5 year NCAA drought matters at all considering there was always talent on those teams and the fact that we've made the tourney 3 years in a row and are about to make it 4 years in a row. it's not like the cupboard was bare of talent, we just happened to get rid of a bad coach in favor of a good one.

^ If you feel the need to put "experienced" in front of sophomores and not mention the freshman who starts every single game to prove we aren't young, you've lost.

lost?
the players who we rely on the most who have the most do with our quality of play are Lacey, Turner, and Barber
if they aren't playing well, we aren't winning. that doesn't have much of anything to do with how old they are.

Pretty impressive. Though for perspective, this is the first year it's even been possible since it's Louisville's first year in the conference, and Syracuse, Louisville, Duke and UNC technically couldn't achieve this feat since there are only 3 other HOF coaches outside of their own teams.
However, fuck you Notre Dame and fuck you Virginia. 3/8/2015 12:52:17 PM |
