Quote : | "Many of Adobe’s supporters have mentioned that we should discontinue the Creative Suite products on OS X as a form of retaliation. Again, this is something that Adobe would never consider in a million years. We are not looking to abuse our loyal users and make them pawns for the sake of trying to hurt another company. What is clear is that Apple most definitely would do that sort of thing as is evidenced by their recent behavior." |

Wishing that they wouldn't release CS5 for Mac is retarded. If you are so butthurt for Adobe then as the blogger says...don't give another cent to Apple. Its really that simple. There are a number of non-apple platforms you can go to instead of the iPhone/iPad. Why people go out of their way to point out their dislike for Apple and their products baffles me. There are a number of companies out there who I steer clear from and don't waste a moment of my time talking about either.
I use Adobe products (not flash) daily on my Macbook Pro which have nothing to do with iPhone OS and their closed ecosystem (App Store) so why should I care about Adobe/Apple battle over the iPhone and HTML5/Flash?
Adobe still gets my money as well as Apple because of CS.
Their iPhone app is pretty nice btw and free, but nothing in terms of Brushes or Sketch Pro.

Because Apple went out of there way to fuck over Adobe? This isn't an "Flash doesn't work on the iPhone" issue, it's a "hey, we're trying to affect sales of your product" issue.4/9/2010 3:21:01 PM |

and at the same time fucking over many other groups and developers.
The 'you don't like how we do things here? then git out!' response is fucking retarded and completely misses the significance of what Apple is doing with this.

Flash is shitty...I wouldn't want it on any mobile device. If thats too difficult for someone to grasp boo on them. If you've ever worked with flash and developed for flash you'd understand.
Adobe either needs to step up and address these issues or give up on Flash and focus on everything else they do thats not flash.
But regardless on personal feelings on Flash...Adobe Flash sales might be affected but their other product lines won't.
We also don't know why Apple has gone this route. It would appear that there might have been a time where Adobe/Apple were talking but that quickly went to shit. Why? We don't know...maybe because Adobe stood by their shitty product and said we aren't changing a thing? *shrug* who knows...
At the end of the day Apple will either screw themselves over with this move or nobody will care. Developers have the choice to either abandon iPhone OS as a development platform because of their hurt feelings with Adobe or they'll continue to work in XCode. There is clearly no shortage of developers willing to work in XCode.

Flash sucks on Macs. It's not bad on PCs. If it were as bad as Apple wants you to think, you wouldn't see YouTube, Hulu, etc. using it. It wouldn't have powered internet video out of the stone age.

This isn't about putting flash on the iphone though. Its about using non-apple tools to generate the same code that xcode does. If the resulting code is no good, then they'll catch it in their approval process. If its fine, then why do they care if it was developed in xcode or not? In fact, how would they even know?

dude, flash SUCKS on any platform. I came from PC's long before Macs. I developed in Flash on PCs long before I went over to Mac. There was a day where Flash was needed because there were no alternate options that were worth a damn. This is how Flash became so popular. This is why flash is the norm now because of sites like YouTube which is why newer sites like hulu adopted it. But times have changed, browsers have evolved, and the likes of Silverlight have emerged.

As we've discussed previously, the video tag that YouTube uses only works in Chrome and Safari (but not Mobile Safari). It's sort of a "lets see how viable this thing actually is" type beta.

What change?
Going from Apple not allowing Flash on the iPhone to....Apple not allowing Flash on the iPhone?
This isn't stopping the flash product from getting on the iPhone; Its essentially about stopping any 3rd party solution from being able to produce content for the iPhone. They want you locked into their development kit.
Also, I think people are getting Flash Player and the product that Flash CS5 will produce on the iPhone mixed up.

You have made it very clear that HTML5 isn't finalized yet and not even close to it.
Flash has been around for how long? Long enough to be on Version 10.x
HTML5 hasn't even matured yet but it still out performs Flash on a Mac. And all I see windows side is potential for when things are finalized.

Continue reading the article:
Quote : | "Depending on the video card and drivers, (NVIDIA, AMD/ATI and Intel offer products that support this), the video decoding process in Flash 10.1 can now work for all video playback, not just full-screen playback as was available in Flash 10.0.
According to Adobe, hardware acceleration is not supported under either Linux or Mac OS X, the latter because Mac OS X does not expose access to the required APIs. If Apple just came out and said,
"We don't want people watching video in safari mobile, we want content providers to create apps that play their video content. We make money off apps, we don't make money off shit people view in safari mobile.",
then I'd probably respect their decision to not support it.
But this jihad vs. Flash that they've started is just retarded, and there is no point or justification for it outside of the aforementioned desire to make more money. 4/9/2010 4:02:31 PM |
