Wow that is a tall receiver. I hope we can get McDaniel too. He briefly committed last year.

He plays QB for South Columbus HS in Tabor City, NC. They use the wing-T offense there, which usually requires the QB to be both the best athlete and decision maker on the team.

Aha, McKever. So that's why i couldn't find anything on him.
Supposedly 6'6", 210ish, currently plays QB and safety, runs ~ 4.6, projected to play WR.
Interesting
So we might have a Pharoah and Mustafa on the team.

Saw this kid play person in the 2A state playoffs last year. Pretty much won the game single handedly.

"N.C. State lands two more football recruits
By: Bill Cole | Winston-Salem Journal
Updated: June 12, 2012 - 12:12 AM

Headed to Raleigh for their college careers are Pharoah McKever, one of the state's top rising high-school seniors; and Jerod Fernandez, a promising linebacker from Florida.

McKever is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound athlete who plays at South Columbus High School in Tabor City for coach Jake Fonvielle. Fernandez is 6-foot and 205 pounds, and attends Lake Mary High School, where he plays for coach Scott Perry.

N.C. State was the first college program to offer McKever a scholarship and he wanted to get his college decision out of the way early.

"He's been up there several times," Fonvielle said. "It was a little different than the other places he's been. He felt more comfortable.

"A lot of people wait until the last minute to make their decision. He's one of those kids who knows what he wants and what he's looking for, and N.C. State had those things for him."

The additions build the N.C. State class to seven commitments. The players can sign the binding national letters of intent in February, when the NCAA's next football signing period will begin.

McKever will be a three-season starter for South Columbus as a senior. He is a quarterback and is a two-time All-Waccamaw Conference selection. He completed 86 passes in 137 attempts for 1,267 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. He also rushed for 11 touchdowns. He led South Columbus to a 20-5 record in the last two seasons.

Fonvielle thinks that McKever will likely play receiver or linebacker at N.C. State.

"They're recruiting him as an athlete," Fonvielle said. "They like him as a possible receiver, but they also like him on the defensive side of the ball as well. He's a versatile player so if it doesn't work out at the first option they can adjust and put him someplace else."

McKever also plays basketball and baseball. He averaged 20 points in basketball as a junior.

Fernandez also was offered scholarships by Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Memphis, Central Florida, Temple and Western Kentucky.

"He's been up there a couple of times," Perry said. "It's close enough that his family can go up and his friends can drive up for a weekend. And he's going to be playing people around here, Florida State and Miami."

He had 99 tackles as a junior for Lake Mary. He broke up two passes and caused a fumble. He helped Lake Mary go 8-3 in Class 8-A play, Florida's largest high schools.

Fernandez will be a three-year starter as a senior. He plays defense primarily but is also Lake Mary's second tight end. He has 4.6-second speed over 40 yards.

"He plays downhill and arrives at the point of attack in an unpleasant demeanor," Perry said.

^ Dabo apparently was roommates at Alabama with that kid's coach. Clemson also recruited two other kids from the school to help persuade him to sign. Either way I am still shocked that big time recruits want to go to Clemson over a place like Bama or LSU.

2013 Jalen McDaniel 6-2, 190
2013 Pharaoh McKever 6-6, 210

Some of the players that I'd like to pick-up that I think we have a good shot at landing are Jonathan Alston, Jack Tocho, Corey Cooper, Taquan Mizzell, and Daikiel Shorts. Shorts apparently was very impressive at our camp. He could play WR or DB, but I think with how physically impressive he is he may be best used battling WRs on the defensive side of the ball, especially with all the WRs we have picked up. He comes from Elkton, MD which is about a 50-60 minute drive down I-95S from Philly. I'm pretty familiar with he area because my girlfriend lives there. Cooper hinted to McDaniel on Twitter that maybe he should commit sometime soon. It'd be good to pick up another WR with a different skill set to play opposite McDaniel, as well as keep a local kid home.

Apparently James Summers, who committed to NCSU, then switched to UNC (causing some folks to bash TOB) will be enrolling at Hargrave.

TOB & company have been on a roll recruiting-wise since the beginning of May.

We made NY running back Augustus Edwards' final four (along with Syracuse, Maryland and UVA). He would be an excellent compliment to Dakwa Nichols, since he's more of a power back. Currently rated as the #38 RB according to Scout:

Also it sounds like we're making a push for former UGA commit Kyrin Priester:

Deangelo Yancy has us in his top 3

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/on-the-trail/post?id=14228

Quote :
"Deangelo Yancey (Atlanta/Mays) exploded onto the scene this spring with several impressive performances, making the Atlanta Sparq All-Combine and Atlanta NFTC All-Camp teams. Seven schools have offered Yancey since then, and the 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver is getting close to making a decision.

"I am committing July 13," Yancey said.

Yancey, who made 29 catches for more than 600 yards and eight touchdowns last year, says a few programs are standing out

"My top three schools are Wake Forest, NC State and Ole Miss, in no order," Yancey said.

The physical wideout said he already has visited Ole Miss and Wake Forest. He plans on visiting NC State before making his commitment."
