it's not on the level with the original trilogy for many hackneyed reasons, e.g. overusage of/reliance on special effects, lack of character development, the fact that George Lucas is proposed to be "aligning with the times," etc. But it's definitely the best one. How could it not be? It's what we all wanted to see in the first place. At least us older nerds...

for those of you who would take great pleasure in watching Jar Jar Binks die by the sword in this movie, you're gonna be disappointed. There is a "skit" at best which alludes to his death. Disappointing, but somewhat alleviating nonetheless... :-\

Doesn't look like there should be a problem getting tickets. We've got two prints, so we can techincally seat about 700. And with State being out of session, we really haven't sold too many tickets.

I mean, I'm fairly certain I could have ascribed personality types to the original star wars characters. R2D2 has more personality than anyone in the new fucking movies.

I'd love to hear Maddox's view on Star Wars, I think I'd agree.

You people realize Star Wars is nothing more than an overhyped action film with lots of character interaction and development w/ weird space characters and an off-the-wall setting/plot? It's really not the best thing since sliced bread. It's just a movie. I'll go it when it comes out on DVD, or if I get a free ticket somehow, but I mean c'mon, the real reason Star Wars is so big is because it's the best marketed motion picture of all time.

Overhyped? I wasn't alive in 1977 (most of us weren't), but my understanding from numerous sources is that movie flew pretty low under the radar and steadily built the infamous "word of mouth" buzz.

I still say that Empire Strikes Back holds its own against any action film made today. I watched it for the first time in like 3 years a few months ago and was surprised at how much I was laughing and enjoying it.

The original Star Wars is slow-paced by today's standards and RotJ has those damn Ewoks, but they're still fun films as far as I'm concerned.
