BTW, Martin Gerber is now first in the league in save percentage and second in goals against average.

"props to my favorite Hurricane, and one of the classiest, nicest guys you'll ever meet.

I am so glad he got some recognition from the fans, because I feel he is truly the heart of the team. He always has something nice to say about the team, the fans, and the city. He always has time to speak with a fan too.
"

I couldn't agree with you more - classy, quality guy. After the his second goal, I saw how he kept working his ass off and had this feeling that tonight was the night for him. Hell, he almost had 4 goals by the end of the game

I hope this is the spark he needs to get the puck in the net more - it's been a somewhat slow start for him.

The Rangers looked a lot better than the Canes last night, if you ignore the whole getting their asses handed to them part.

At the start of the game, I'd agree with you. However, once the Canes woke up and wiped the sleep from their eyes they looked quite good. If you're judging solely based on the first period, I suggest you take a look at the period-to-period breakdown of the game. Sure, you'll see that the Rangers had 2/3 of the penalties in the game, but they played dirty, plain and simple. Play dirty and you're going to get caught.

Don't blame penalties, blame the team - even the Canes were able to blame themselves after they got their ass whooped last Saturday night, when it would be just as easy to place some of the blame on the refs.

Staal is expected to play this afternoon. We'll see if I can listen to NC State on the radio and watch the Canes on TV.
