I do have to say that the benefits of being a vampire DO NOT outweight the negatives by a long shot.

yes I have moonshadow anyway, so the invisible thing is no big deal, and I think I have a nightvision spell also

neither of which are particularly useful. The detect life spell is much more useful in the dark (and when fighting vamps)

I'm stuck in the Anvil oblivion gate.

Almost all my weapons lost charge (I've got 4 magical swords) and I'm getting my ass raped by fire atronaks.

why not leave the gate and then get ur weapons recharged if thats the main issue?

[Edited on June 1, 2006 at 5:42 PM. Reason : i never recharged any of my weapons for the entire game.]

yay I got the

*spoiler*

gray fox hood, so now there's basically no point in being a vampire, time to find the Grand soul gems.

and do they have to be empty? i think that's what it said but sometimes you don't have to do precisely what the quest log says

yeah they have to be empty. i tried giving her filled ones and she told me to fuck off.

I've got like 200k in gold now, do I have to watch out for that gray fox fucker?

Also, cyrion, I cannot recharge my weapons because I'm a warrior and only have 72 magicka at 8th level and you need 78 to cast soul trap

oblivion gates are easy when you can summon storm atronachs, go invisible, and watch the slaughter (yes, i realize this is cheap, but it makes me happy)

this is fucking ridiculous, so this orc tells me to go get this axe and he'll let this guy that's in debt go, so i go and turns out the axe story is a trick, so i'm being hunted by these guys as a Hostel like thing, pay to kill, so I kill all these bitches that tried to kill me and I come out the den, what I find? the orc killing the debt guy, so even though i beat the bitch's game, he's killing the dude anyway, so then he kills me so i load up the autosave of exiting the den, BUT, for some reason the debt dude is on the second floor of this outdoor fort and the orc is too fucking stupid to just walk up some stairs and get him, AND i'm frozen b/c this is supposed to be a cutscene, so i'm sitting here watching this orc run around like a fucking mongoloid, hoping the debt guy will fall down and die so i can go ahead and bitch slap this orc back to orc-land.

well the orc mission i was just talking about pretty much gave me a full set of glass armor.

go to the leyawind Bruma Bravil mages guild, that's where I overheard the conversation that started this quest, you might have to be a certain level or something tho

^^ can be done at level 1 with a tank-ish character.

Open up the console and type "movetoqt" that'll kick you out of that and it'll progress normall. You may have to select the guy you were trying to save and in the console type "kill." He's supposed to die, when he dies the cutscene ends and you'll be unstuck.

does anyone elses' framerate suffer the longer you play the game?

My shit will start chugging if I play the game for 2 straight hours to the point that I notice it. I save the game, exit to windows, and load it back up and shit is fine again.

I mean, lots of apps do that. They start grabbing at system resources (especially main memory) and sometimes they don't bother to give the resources back when they're done with them... or they'll give back some resources, but other stuff gets overlooked.

Okay, here's a weird thing. I did the Thieves Guild quest, and I won the competition, so I got in. Then, I guess I didn't realize I needed to talk to homeslice about getting missions, so there isn't any quest info about the Thieves Guild. Now he doesn't show up at the waterfront, the beggars won't talk to me about Thieves Guild stuff no matter how high their disposition is, and Methredel or whatever her name is, doesn't have the "pay off my bounty" option when I talk to her. In my profile, though, it lists me as being a Thieves Guild Pickpocket. I don't get it.

Anyway, the real problem is that I keep running out of lockpicks because I'm bad a lockpicking, and I can't find a reliable source of them, so I want to find homeslice again so I can buy up a stock of them.

Lockpicking is ridiculously easy.

Just pay attention to the tumblers and you can master it in a few minutes.

I know the trick to it, it's just that I'm a tard and I have bad reaction time. Also, I'm playing the PC version, if that makes a difference.

Anyway, thanks for the info on where to get lockpicks. I kept getting them like 2 or 3 at a time, and that wouldn't really get me through a dungeon reliably. If I had 100, that would last me a while.

yeah, I never understood why I couldn't just bust a tiny chest open if I didn't have any lockpicks. It took me way too long to figure out how to pick locks. I guess I misread the instructions, but I thought the idea was to push all the tumblers up, then click. Took me a while to figure out that you can push one tumbler up, click to lock it in place, then work on the next tumbler.

Damnit, this game is too fun. It should be illegal.

timing timing timing
pay attention at how the speed of the tumbler changes as you mess with it mroe than once.....look for when it goes up slower and time yourself accordingly.

really? Maybe the x-box version is different. it's a timing thing. The big hint I found online is that the speed that the tumbler goes up indicates how long it will stay up. keep pushing it up until you see it go up kinda slowly, then you can lock it into place pretty easily. It takes some practice, but you should start to get it.

I've got the PC version too, and it isn't any different.

Just play with the tumblers for awhile. Watch them without clicking just to see how they move, and you'll get a feel for the timing.

shrug, the longer you do it the easier it gets. i used to really suck at it, but after playing my theif 19 lvls i was able to do it with my warrior and mage with few problems. generally if it comes down fast one time the next one will be slow. it isnt 100%, but if you are having a hard time it is a decent way to predict.
