I just couldn't buy the whole "one raider is super badass and has a history and is gunna get you and your KIDS" story when I see the hundreds of thousands of other raiders out there I mean, in retrospect I'm probably hitting it a little harder than it deserves, but it was no 'low earth orbit viper deployment' 11/19/2006 8:56:34 PM |

this episode was great because of the lucy lawless - baltar - caprica tryst
SCAR was great because.... goddamn, it's a fucking bad-ass raider!
plus, having the raiders re-spawn with knowledge they've gained from before? genius. 11/19/2006 10:00:33 PM |

^^ why not? You're missing a huge part of the story - the fact that the cylons aren't just mass-manufactured automotons. They are individuals and have personalities and are unique. To think that one cannot distiguish himself as "super badass" is placing the raiders into the simple homogenous mechanical mindset. In reality each is as unique as you and I - or do you believe that you can beat Champ Bailey in a 40 yd dash or Lance Armstrong on a bicycle?
In a diverse environment, unique individuals are going to respond differently and the superior in that environment are going to begin to stand out and establish themselves. Particuarly when they can cycle through several lifetimes. 11/19/2006 10:16:04 PM |

The scene on Friday’s episode where Lucy Lawless gets the centurion to execute her was some of the most bad ass shit on TV in a long while
Just the whole set up of the scene, the orders she gave the centurion and then the scenes during rebirth where she felt like she was touching god
I love it 11/20/2006 9:53:46 AM |

Very very kewl indeed.
It seems like most people think next weeks episode is gonna be nothin but filler. Wouldnt it be crazy unexpected if its an episode that kills off a character?
I mean, nobody would see that coming. 11/20/2006 12:53:21 PM |
Captain Rich All American 652 Posts user info edit post |
even though they do include some episodes that seem to be filler (scar) they still seem to work. They expand or complicate some character. but i think one of the biggest strength of the show over all is how it feels like there is a coherent story line throughout the whole thing; you feel like its actually leading up to something.

The admiralty shot bulldog initially to provoke a war they wanted just as roslin said.
Proof:
1) When being briefed about the mission, there is a brief shot of a black admiral that looks upset or disgusted over something. That something is his knowledge of what they plan to do to Adama and the mission. There is no other reason to include the shot of that admiral.
2)The ship that shot Bulldog initially jumps in, shoots his engines out to just wound him and be found, then jumps away. No way that was a cylon. no way. It was a colonial ship with an unknown transponder or class of ship. Then the actual cylons jump in with those 2 ships that were the other unknown ships, and then Adama is forced to shoot him down(most likely he was instructed to do so by the admiralty).
This point of them wanting the war is a plot point that could show up in the future. I like that they are keeping their options open.

The Scar episode of reminded me of the Space: Above and Beyond Episode "The Angriest Angel" (which btw was one of the best damn episodes of sci fi ever, along with the the episode "Who Monitors the Birds")

Amazing how similar that series is to the battlestar galactica.
In fact, I wonder if they used the original BSG as a basis for the plotline to Space: Above and Beyond.
EVEN the inside of the ships are organic in both series. Very similar indeed11/21/2006 5:57:54 PM |

yeah i was thinking about the supply issue, seems like they have a limitless supply of tobacco and alcohol not to mention where does the food come from. I guess there are some transport ships in the fleet that were shipping this stuff. 11/22/2006 6:12:42 PM |
BEU All American 12512 Posts user info edit post |
You could kind of argue, that they grew abunch of plants for that year and had an emergency supply on BSG at the time they retreated.
One thing I dont like is that they are in deep space and you can actually see the fleet. There wouldnt be enough light to actually see the fleet outside the windows. 11/22/2006 6:47:04 PM |

aaaaaaaahhh... well that would make this episode a hell of a lot more exciting then just a random boxing episode in space. i guess them doing the whole time split thing allowed them to get a couple more stories out of this. but, seriously... i feel like they go through stories a little faster then they need to. Could have had a little more with Cain.... and some other story lines. sigh. 11/30/2006 1:37:56 AM |
