well that play, he had nobody and tucked like he was going to run, then just as he was about to get hit, he decided to throw, but he over threw the guy big time and a safety made the pick. 10/14/2006 3:15:45 PM |

Finally people will stop over-hyping John Deraney.
And Daniel Evans made a terrible decision that cost us the game, but I can't be too upset with him since he won us the last 2 pretty much.
But that 2-point conversion call was terrible. 10/14/2006 3:16:56 PM |

hmmmm....interception to lose the game, fumble to give them the 2 points they win by.....the only way we win a game is if we limit mistakes. we didnt today and wake's kicker sealed our fate. 10/14/2006 3:17:02 PM |

like i posted about a second before the pick, we should've been running the damn ball. why fucking take risks with passing there? time was running low, and we were in deraney's range. run the ball, and make it easier for deraney. 10/14/2006 3:17:34 PM |

it wasnt so much the safety as it was the 7 points right after it, if they had held there we'd have won
i wont blame evans or deraney for this, but the d was fucking soft for most of the game, and that was the problem 10/14/2006 3:17:51 PM |

evans isn't terrible, it takes luck to win 3 games in a row in the 4th quarter. how about someone coaching this team up for the first 3 quarters? not to mention we can NEVER stop wake's offense, i mean shit how many fucking times did they run that fucking reverse, its a terrible play it is something that should have been stopped for a damn loss after the first time it was ran. 10/14/2006 3:18:04 PM |

yea we needed to pass, but it shoulda gone to the sidelines anyway...i think he realized if he took the sack, we'd lose a good 10 seconds or so at least, so he tried to make a play...unfortunately it wasnt to dunlap in the corner of the endzone.

evans can easily hit a 57 yarder.
and we definitely didn't need to pass. a little over a minute left. 2nd down and 6ish. run the ball for another first. that makes it 53 yards or less. run and maybe get it down to a 48 yarder. timeout and kick. 10/14/2006 3:21:31 PM |

It looks like he was trying to throw it away, but went down the field instead of out of bounds.

for one...evans doesnt kick field goals...deraney does...for another he completely fucked up a 44 yarder earlier...another...there were 50 seconds left...if we get stopped before the first on a run, clock continues and we cant afford to spike it on third down...and finally we had no timeouts left...so in otherwords you=pwned...dude it takes at least 15 seconds to get the ball spotted and to run another play plus the time it takes for the play...there is no way we could have run 3 more times

I agree, we needed safe sideline passes.
And no we weren't in Deraney's range, plus, I didn't want him kicking the game winner anyway, he had already missed one so I wasn't feeling confident in him.
4 Plays changed this game: 1.) Missed FG(their K hit the same FG from the same spot the next quarter) 2.) Fumble for Safety(that's some NC State shit right there) 3.) Missed 2-point conversion(terrible play call) 4.) Throwing over the middle while being tackled against a zone (terrible decision)
We should have won that game and could have won it if we played a better mental game. Especially if we didn't waste our TO's like we did.
We need to re-focus, we can still make a respectable finish if we win the rest of the games we're suppose to. 10/14/2006 3:23:30 PM |

hard loss to take but there isn't much you can blame
young qb played ballsy to keep us in the game but made one fatal mistake, not to mention they had to make a 53 yard field goal to win it 10/14/2006 3:24:26 PM |
titans78 All American 4038 Posts user info edit post |
yeah thats another thing, awesome use of out TO's.
we used one that we wasted to draw them offsides, but we go for it anyway w/ a qb sneak? jsut fucking qb sneak it and save the to. your gonna use a TO 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter of a game you know is going to be close, have some balls and just run the qb sneak or punt it. we wasted that 4th down conv. anyway punted the next set of downs. waste to use it before their FG too, fucking terrible.
oh well, wake for acc champs?

Why the fuck didn't we have any timeouts in the end of the game?
Calling that timeout right before they kicked the 54 yarder was stupid. 10/14/2006 3:25:49 PM |

why cant our team get up for a Wake game like they do an FSU game? our intensity, our physicality was nowhere near the level we were playing against FSU. If we can't get up for EVERY game, we'll never take the next step as a program. 10/14/2006 3:27:18 PM |

^ wake's offense is killer. 37 runs, only 14 passes. they are basically the only team we play that does that. i think it hurts our momentum on offense, and wears our defense out. 10/14/2006 3:29:01 PM |

5.) Not bringing pressure on third downs in obvious passing situations, like the one that gave them a TD at the half. I've seen this screw us more times than not over the years.10/14/2006 3:36:13 PM |
