yeah i was afraid of that

Quote :
"But we wonder if the STI is really making as much power as Subaru claims. At the test track it took 5.4 seconds to reach 60 mph to the Evo's 4.9. It began to close the distance by the quarter-mile, though its 13.6-second run was still three-tenths of a second behind the Mitsubishi."

this was 2006 though, has something changed for the latest models?

lol? If you're going to troll or start shit at least use something that actually happened. for example...

Does scrumples still drive his grandmothers WRX, thinking its as fast as an STi?

Well, my IX is back up for sale...for real this time (since I have now procured other transportation).

Asking $27,750 ('06 Evo IX, 24k miles, fresh clutch under warranty, 50% Falken Azenis, sun/sound/leather, HIDs). Realistically would probably accept a $27k offer, although I'd like to get somewhere in between that and my asking price. Think that's about right? Not interested in cutting anyone a good deal on an Evo, but not interested in sitting around forever fishing for top dollar, either.

not for a IX...you can get an VIII for that.

i'm not really trying to sell it on here--i live 3000 miles away--just trying to figure out if my price is right.

i saw an 06 EVO MR (22k miles) at southern states for 30k...but dude said they would take 28 for it, which i interpreted as ~26k. Would that be a good deal?

I dont remember if I had 22k miles or 28.

I'm thinking I had 28.

I let mine go for 25k.

If you can find the VIN I can tell you exactly.

he got a 335i

going from an Evo IX to an STi would be silly. I wanted an STi until I drove them both. There are a lot of things I like about the Subaru, but the Evo kills it.

^^^ hmm the one there was 22,XXX miles. i wouldn't put it past them to roll it back tho

^ i just assumed STI since it was a Suburu dealership. I'm leaning towards a bmw too tho...even though that car was all kinds of fun to drive

Its the fact that gas consumption tanks under full boost that really gets me.

I was also a bit hesitant in trusting even more complex engineering to BMW seeing as how they are retarded about over engineering everything currently anyway.

The gray evo isn't your old one, this one had holes drilled in the front bumper from what must have been a front license plate, so i'm assuming the previous owner maybe lived in virginia?

And to TheDuke... If you spend some time on the evo for sale forums they are selling stock evos for a lot less than that, but if there aren't many in your area i'm sur eyou could get 27.5k for it if your willing to wait for it.

and regarding BMWs... i test drove that twin turbo engine in the brand new 1 series in at the BMW dealer on capital blvd yesterday and holy shit, that car is really fuckin fast. The only downside is how tiny it is, it really isn't practical at all, but man was it fun. At the end of the day i think shelling out a little more for a 335i is probably the best compromise between comfort and giddyup.

are these Evos in question IXs or VIIIs?

also, my car has the sun/sound/leather package and HIDs (which most IXs don't have), so it should command a little bit of a premium. if i'm way off, though, let me know. it looked about right to me after looking at KBB, NADA, Autotrader, eBay, and cars.com.

it's bad that we're considering the new 1-series "tiny".

but yeah, i'd get the 335i, too, because the 1-series is so ridiculously heavy that I'd rather have the roomier (and better looking) 3-series, since the performance should be very comparable.

just wondering, didn't they jack the price of the new X up quite a bit from the IX?

i'm contemplating buying one in the next year, but i have to wait til im out of school. my car now has too many dents in it from the campus assholes

the two at the mitsu dealer in capital blvd now are listed at 34 and 36k. I believe my Evo IX SSL's MSRP was 35k when i bought it so i think the evo X prices are pretty competitive.

i like. a lot. my roommate is planning on buying one.

I think I'm going to hold off on any badass cars until at least when i get home from my first deployment, and maybe try to exercise a little restraint for the next few years (because it looks like i'll only be spending about 4-5 months per year at home). i have a hard time justifying dropping big bucks on a car when i'll barely get to use it.

[Edited on March 27, 2008 at 9:45 PM. Reason : read: badass cars that cost as much as that one. you know damn well i'll have something badass.]

haha, yeah

there is a whole list of things that i want, that vary widely in price and performance capability. i haven't decided yet what i want to do. i'll cross that bridge when i get there...and if history is any indicator, i'll probably cross it repeatedly...haha
