tokyo police club's new one was mentioned, how is that? i saw them last weekend here and they played several off the new album. a few were easy to catch on to, but i couldn't get a good grasp on all the new ones live. the guitarist was having technical difficulties among other sound issues.

I saw Phantom Planet open fro Incubus a few years back.

And they fucking suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

But that's just my opinion.

whenever they did the Scion tour at the RBC center.

It was also the worst Incubus concert I've ever been to. The acoustics were awful.

The best was either the Morning View tour at Disco Rodeo (Brandon rocked a didgeridoo into "I Miss You") or on the White Pony tour in Ft. Mills (Chino and Brandon performed "Say It Ain't So" in the middle of "7 Words").

^^^ ah yea, chino is a HUGE weezer fan. i have some 7 words/say it aint so performances kicking around on my home pc somewhere.

i saw incubus in charlotte one time for morning view and they really sounded great. mike einziger really impressed me live. Very clean player and he really got some great tone. their last several albums have been really really boring and unimpressive, but they had some very interesting songs early on.

personally i think he is a creative player and decent songwriter. or was at least. he uses some unique chords and voicings even if they were writing radio rock. but i know ill get flamed for that.

It has gradually fallen off since then

^ were you looking for the senor and the queen ep by Gaslight Anthem, or do they have another one?

I did a quick search and found that one here, hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7CDDSBP, but it's not my link and I'm not sure if that's even what you're looking for. That was posted several weeks back, it appears.

New Belphegor, New Arsis, Death - Symbolic Remastered + Demo songs? fuck yeah.

If you're into melodic black metal check out the new belphegor cd it's pretty badass. Still no Opeth or Wintersun leaks, then again Wintersun - Time will probably never come out. I read somewhere on his forum that each song had about 200 tracks or so and he couldn't find a computer powerful enough for his music.

and i know i'll probably get flamed for this, i'm flaming myself for such a lame label, but "gila" by beach house is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs i've ever heard. i seriously cannot get enough of it

I can see that. I'll readily admit that I'm a sucker for bubblegum, too, especially with tons of harmony vocals. Recordings/performances aside, the first three songs are damn good.

I was in Pittsburgh this past weekend and as I'm looking through the free city paper, I see the Dodos are playing at some small art gallery in town. Needless to say, I checked it out and it was fucking awesome. BYOB and a bunch of folding chairs set up. Sweet

There is nothing wrong with that at all.

How far does your obsession with bubblegum/baroque pop go back? If you're into late 60's stuff, we should start another thread and I can start uploading like a mad man.

The Left Banke
The Millenium
Love
The Zombies ( I have everything from The Zombies you can imagine, including the full Heaven box and the new Into the Afterlife rare recordings)
The Small Faces
The Association
etc, etc, etc

As far as new bands that you may not have heard -- check out the band that I'm always pimping on here, The Modern Skirts. http://www.myspace.com/modernskirts -- check out "four more years" (live recording, so it's not spectacular) and "Pasadena" for a taste of their Brian Wilson side. It's more typical of the rest of the record.

These guys are not signed yet, but their next record is being produced by Mike Mills of REM and they're opening for REM in Amsterdam.
