^ As predicted. For page 14:
CNN anchor fired after Jon Stewart rant Rick Sanchez rails against Jews, calls 'Daily Show' host a 'bigot' in radio interview
Quote : | "CNN has fired anchor Rick Sanchez following a radio rant Thursday night where he called Jon Stewart a 'bigot,' blamed CNN brass for discrimination against him and insinuated that the media industry is controlled by Jews. The network announced Sanchez's dismissal in a statement early Friday evening:
'Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well,' the statement said.
Sanchez's controversial interview occurred on the final day of his show in the 8 p.m. time slot, where he was replacing Campbell Brown, who departed in May. Angry about being replaced by CNN's new 'Parker Spitzer' talk show and the constant jokes made at his expense on the 'Daily Show,' he lashed out on at his perceived enemies — CNN brass, Jon Stewart and Jews.
Sanchez went on Pete Dominick's Sirius XM show to promote his new book, 'Conventional Idiocy.' While on air, he called Stewart a 'bigot,' implied that CNN is controlled by Jews and that the network passed him over for promotion because he's Latino." |

But this, of course, is self-evident.
Hell, why don't we throw in another loon from MSNBC while we're at it:
Ed Schultz 'Reprimanded' Over Chris Christie 'Fat Slob' Comment Sept. 30, 2010
I'll burn the building down. --Ed Schultz aka Milton
Quote : | "MSNBC president Phil Griffin has reportedly reprimanded Ed Schultz over his comments about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Last week, Schultz referred to Christie as a 'cold-hearted fat slob' on MSNBC's 'Ed Show.'
Now, TV Newser reports, his boss has given him a talking-to for the second time in as many months.
Last month, Schultz was also reprimanded by Griffin and NBC News boss over a screamy threat to 'torch this place' after he was left out of network promos." |

I don't think you understand what firing (or causing someone to "leave the network") entails. CNN is disassociating themselves from those comments, meaning that the actions of those former employees do not reflect back on the network (well, they do reflect back if you're a conservative with an axe to grind, but that's your problem, not theirs). As for MSNBC, I'd say Schultz probably deserved more than just a "reprimand", but the network did still publicly condemn his actions.
The issue people have with FOX is not just that their employees/TV personalities say or do outrageous or seemingly-crazy things, it's that the network makes little effort to condemn or distance itself from that craziness. A simple example is that it took a LOT of convenient little partisan errors (for example, listing publicly embarrassed or discredited republican politicians as democrats) before the network actually issued a statement saying that errors were not going to be acceptable anymore... And that's an example where the network did eventually correct themselves. There's many more where they simply haven't. Hell, the fact that Glenn Beck still has a show and is still being given a time slot in which to air it is enough of an example.
I'm sure there are some liberals that would still accuse Fox of all sorts of shit, even if it were firing or reprimanding its employees, but I'll say the same thing about those hypothetical liberals that I'll say about you: You've (They've) just got an axe to grind and are looking for whatever excuses you (they) can find to take shots at the network, regardless of how unreasonable an argument it makes. 10/2/2010 2:13:26 AM |

I don't typically watch much cable news but I have recently this election and I have seen basically no left bias. I see all networks praying for a close race. Thus the "Mittmentum" narrative and the pimping of the one poll that makes PA look tire (this was on MSNBC this morning).
Seems more ratings driven this term than ideological. 11/5/2012 8:25:07 AM |

CBS News Political Director's Advice for President Obama:
Quote : | "The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat.
How should the president proceed then, if he wants to be bold? The Barack Obama of the first administration might have approached the task by finding some Republicans to deal with and then start agreeing to some of their demands in hope that he would win some of their votes. It’s the traditional approach. Perhaps he could add a good deal more schmoozing with lawmakers, too.
That’s the old way. He has abandoned that. He doesn’t think it will work and he doesn’t have the time. As Obama explained in his last press conference, he thinks the Republicans are dead set on opposing him. They cannot be unchained by schmoozing. Even if Obama were wrong about Republican intransigence, other constraints will limit the chance for cooperation. Republican lawmakers worried about primary challenges in 2014 are not going to be willing partners. He probably has at most 18 months before people start dropping the lame-duck label in close proximity to his name.
Obama’s only remaining option is to pulverize. Whether he succeeds in passing legislation or not, given his ambitions, his goal should be to delegitimize his opponents. Through a series of clarifying fights over controversial issues, he can force Republicans to either side with their coalition’s most extreme elements or cause a rift in the party that will leave it, at least temporarily, in disarray." |

I'm guessing the main issue is the type of crime she did? Then again I wonder if someone with a drug felony would cause as much of a stir. Maybe a sexual crime of sorts might cause equal outrage. Kinda like if they hired a convicted Priest to teach a religious class.
I still haven't heard any coverage in my area about the abortion doctor from Philly. Only thing I could see that might lean more to the bias side of reporting. 4/9/2013 6:30:47 AM |

Honestly I think the Mike Rice stuff brings to the surface a broader issue (rampant bigotry, homophobia, and abusiveness in sports culture) whereas the abortion doctor is really just some shitty dude in Philly. While I feel bad for his victims, it's not like this country is plagued by butchers like him, as much as the right would want everyone to believe his portfolio is a representative sample of abortion procedures. One is a national issue, the other is a local one. If you're IN Philly and haven't heard about him, that's a bit weird but seriously who cares about local news these days?

I don't think it's extreme to suggest that children, while under stewardship of their parents, are not owned by their parents and should have rights and entitlements beyond those at the discretion of their parents. In short: Just because a kid has shitty parents shouldn't be a drag on their entire future.
That's just my generous reading, though, but hey it could very well be that this woman is a Maoist revolutionary trying to snatch children from parents and make them live in Dickensian orphanage-indoctrination centers (which she will slyly call SCHOOLS). 4/9/2013 1:16:39 PM |

Str8Foolish - Taking the abortion factor out of it, it reminds me of a serial killer type of crime. Especially with keeping parts in jars. I figure with folks like Dahmer, Bundy or Angelo (Angel of Death guy) Gosnell would have fit in with them in the news.

It probably could, but it's rather obvious the pro-life movement has latched onto it to spin it as "The dark reality of abortion" or whatever, and I think an editor might say to himself "This could be a big story but, given the people pumping it, probably for the wrong reasons." Call that bias if you want, I think that oversimplifies what's going on though.
Quote : | "infowars legitimizing itt" |
Precisely, actually. This could make great serial killer news except the voices like those on infowars would be louder than any other commentator. Those aren't the kind of people you want being the primary linker of your network's latest story.
