On the fence for the collector's edition...I already own D2, but the behind the scenes could be a cool nostalgia trip, soundtrack will be solid, and the in-game content - though if I understand correctly the in-game content (banner, dyes) is purely cosmetic? (I didn't get a Beta invite so I've never played a second of D3)

its 100 bucks, 40 more than D3.

You get a neat little diablo skull with the red soulstone in his forehead that is the usb drive.

What I get them for are the artwork book, soundtrack, and especially behind the scenes dvd on the making of the game. All of these things I 'consume' multiple times so the extra 40 bucks is well worth it to me.

The ingame stuff is ok; but yes its purely cosmetic. just a way to distinguish yourself...

in a single player game lol?

obviously not to enough people to stop it being priced at that.

just think about how often blizzard releases a title. And how often they release even a mediocre title.

Their releases are a big deal on the gaming scene. 100 bucks for a CE from a company that takes 6+ years to release a title isn't that hard to grasp or understand. Especially at the quality level they put out.

Plus, the cost is still less than the cost of 2 new games, so its not outrageous.

Yeah OK leaning towards it now. I don't buy many games at all, might as well splurge for this franchise. Plus I do like th box - very important to me, as I do not believe in digital distribution.

I know none of you people still play WoW but there are also in-game perks in that game for buying the Collector's Edition of Diablo 3, on top of what's already mentioned.

Also, soulstone USB plus diablo skull holder...yes.

I still play WoW, but not very much. Im sure it will pick up with the next expansion. I mainly am just interested in raiding with friends as that is fun for me.

The cosmetic stuff makes more sense in that game, even though I don't really care about it. I just recently cashed in my blizzcon 2010 in game rewards

I can draw ok with pencil but that picture is 100% digital painting.

Eh, its a 30 second spot to generate hype.

The most impressive and exciting parts of any blizzard game are the cinematics. Especially considering they read much better in a short amount of time than random gameplay footage.

Experienced diablo fans already know about the gameplay so the only 'new' flashy thing to them would be the cinematics

People new to the franchise will get much more excited by the cinematic images than short flashes of gameplay they may or may not understand

.^^ this is how i feel about it. blizzard always drops little leaks every few months to keep you just enough excited where you won't give up on the game. and then they finally release it 4 years later.

also, they bought themselves a bunch of extra time with the WoW annual pass (to get diablo 3 for free) ploy.

Its confirmed actually; in the D3 art panel at GDC they confirmed that the above image is the final Diablo that the art team came up with for the game.

Blizzard names are all over the credits though, so it should have been better. Its not just a style thing. The quality just isn't there.

All of the Deckard Cain scenes were normal Blizz stuff, as well as his voice acting.
